About us and our dogs



Hi ! This is us ! We are : Luc , Karin , and daughter Sharon ( born 1992 ). We are located in the north of Belgium , country of origin of the Belgian Shepherds. In 1991 we moved into our newly built house in Balen - Olmen , a small , very rural village near Mol and Geel , at about 20 kilometers of the Dutch border.You can locate us on the maps !

One thing Olmen is very known for is its zoo. The " Olmense Zoo " is the only zoo in the world that breeds cheetas in captivity , they sell them to zoos all over the world .

Hoolstmolen Olmen is one of the very few villages that has 2 watermills , one of them still used today. Visit the mills and other attractions!

We are both teachers and Luc has his own private dog-training center where he trains all kinds of dogs from all breeds and every age , from 8 weeks on.He is a professional instructor and an expert in dog's behaviour and solving their problems.For more details look at Our dog training center.Karin always had dogs at home , and so did Luc .

Luc and Alf in 1982 He had his first Groenendael in 1976 .The dog's name was ALF and had famous bloodlines : father was Taylor de la Baraque de Planches ( Pavlov de la Baraque de Planches x Mick de Iamara ), his mother was Xissy du Boscaille ( Santos du Parc de Longchamps x Sorika des Forges Monceux ) Luc trained the dog and he became a real nice and obedient companion for many years. Alf died when he was 14 years old.

We decided to have a new dog , and we both agreed that it had to be another Groenendael.

Karin & Poncha (4 months) We bought CH. B. Poncha des Terres Bergères A ( born January 6 , 1991 ), bred by Serge and Joke Dewilde. From the very first moment Poncha stole our hearts and she became our best friend . She has a splendid character and loves to work. She is talented in everything she does.

Already in 1991 , when Poncha won her first titles at 9 months of age , we decided to breed from her in the future , so we started informing ourselves. Finally ...

Poncha x Phebus puppies in May 1994 April 16 ,1994 , Poncha's first litter was born out of Sujet Recommandé Phebus des Terres Bergères . She had 2 male puppies of which we kept Samuraï ( Sam ), and 4 females of which we kept Saphire.Sam and Saphire were our first puppies " du Pré du Vieux Pont ". Poncha x Buddy puppies in December 1994 November 18 ,1994 : Poncha had her second litter with Reproducteur d'Elite A & Multi-Champion Buddy v. Lana's Hof.( 5 males ,1 in England and 1 in Australia - 3 females , 1 in England ) We kept a female which we called Shesnawa du Pré du Vieux Pont.

Litchi November 1995 : in France we bought Litchi du Crépuscule des Loups, bred by Philippe and Nadine Suter out of Reproducteur d'Elite A CH.Gylson de la Fureur du Crépuscule and Reproductrice d' Elite CH. Fidji du Castel d'Argences.

Ulson and Ushaïa January 12 , 1996 : Poncha's third litter with Reproducteur d'Elite A CH.Gylson de la Fureur du Crépuscule ( 5 males , 1 in Australia , 1 in Greece - 2 females , 1 in Australia ) No puppies kept from this litter , but there's a beautiful male not far from us which we take to a show once in a while , Ulson du Pré du Vieux Pont ( take a look at him in the picture gallery ! )

We were very happy with this combination so we did it again :
Utah July 12 , 1996 : Saphire's first litter with Reproducteur d'Elite A CH.Gylson de la Fureur du Crépuscule ( 3 males - 4 females ) We kept a female Utah du Pré du Vieux Pont.

Ultima and Ursulla in California September 11 ,1996 : Poncha's fourth litter , again with Reproducteur d'Elite A CH.Gylson de la Fureur du Crépuscule ( 6 females ,3 of them in California , USA )

Vance,one of the boys April 20 , 1997 : Saphire's second litter , with Buster-Jessie v. Lana's Hof ( 2 males - 1 female in Portugal )

Viva'Maria April 20 ,1997 : Shesnawa's first litter with Amsterdam Junior Winner 1996 Tsisco van de Hoge Laer ( 7 males , 1 in Portugal - 2 females )We kept a very nice and very promising female : Viva'Maria du Pré du Vieux Pont

July 1997 : due to personal problems we got back a very beautiful bitch that was in England for 2,5 years : Shana du Pré du Vieux Pont ( CH. B.Poncha des Terres Bergères x Reproducteur d' Elite A & multi-CH. Buddy v. Lana's Hof ).

Vip at 8 weeks October 13, 1997 : Shana's first litter with Amsterdam Junior Winner 1996 Tsisco van de Hoge Laer ( 6 males - 1 female )

puppies at 2 weeks October 20 , 1997 : Poncha's fifth litter , this time with Nebukadnezar of the Two , very well known for the working capacities he gives to his puppies.(5 males- 1 female)

Handsome Ulson January 1998 : very happy we could buy back Ulson du Pré du Vieux Pont ( CH. B. Poncha des Terres Bergères x Reproducteur d' Elite A + CH Gylson de la Fureur du Crépuscule )

February 1998 : Saphire has been placed with a nice family not far from here. They get along very well.
Ushaïa Due to unclear reasons , Ushant and Ushaïa , who lived in England for 2 years , waiting to go to Australia , came back to us. Ushant has been placed in a nice showhome and Ushaïa is still with us.

March 1998 : Utah now lives very close to us , she is the most happy pet in the world , making long walks three times a day , and being the best friend of her new owner , who is very very proud of her !

July 1998 : our European Youth Champion Samuraï has found his way to the States ( Texas )! He fell in love with Ann & Jack ( and they love him ! ) , and he is now convincing other people of his wonderful temperament and his good looks.

August 1998 : Ushaïa also found a nice home where she is loved . She can run and play with the other young " du Pré du Vieux Pont " (male) dog !

So at this stage we are back to 6 Groenendael : 5 females - 1 male !
