Hi,
my name is Herbert,
but many of you know me as Baloo.
I was born on June 25th, in the same year as Bill Clinton (ex-US president), but I have a better reputation than this man!

I 'm a chemist and I work as a Regulatory Compliance Manager by a large Pharmaceutical firm in Belgium.

I have many friends on the net, especially at ICQ. I live in Belgium (a small country in Europe between France, Germany and the Netherlands) in the village ZOERSEL, 25 km from Antwerp.

I am a married man and I have two children...Steve who is 28 and an engineer (micro electronics) (http://www.esat.kuleuven.ac.be/~reyntjen )and Wendy who is 26 and she is working as a banking employer. My wife's name is Denise and she is working as an accountant.

Together with my wife I have a great hobby. We are dancing together in a standard formation danceteam "Dance Rhapsody". In the past we were amateur '10 dance competion' dancers.

Belgium

Welcome to Belgium !

Why should you come to Belgium ? Because it is the best kept secret in Europe. Visiting medieval cities, quaint towns, gothic cathedrals and town halls, castles and carillons will keep you busy during the day. At night go to a pub, there are more than 350 delicious beers to chose from. The reputation of our gourmet food makes the French jealous and it is almost impossible to find chocolates as good as ours ! Belgium is Europe in a nutshell, multicultural and multilingual. Flanders. in the north, a flatland criss-crossed by canals, is proud of its great art cities, Antwerp, Bruges and Ghent. To the south in Wallonie, you will find the rolling hills of the Ardennes, numerous castles, and the cities of Liege, Namur, and Tournai.

ZOERSEL is a Flemish municipality in Belgium. It is located in Flanders (province of Antwerp) at about 20 km east of Antwerp. Zoersel is a fusion (1977) of 3 smaller villages: Zoersel, Sint Antonius and Halle.

Zoersel has a population of 20'000 people. Zoersel is famous for his nature and recreation possibilities such as the "Zoerselbos" ( a state-protected wood), many walking and bike tours, ... but also several food-specialities, lime-wood sculptures (in a special museum), a 'Frankish Triangle' (4 th Century Cross-road), a famous old Inn ( het Boshuisje) where local beers can be enjoyed, Jazz-evenings in-the-Park, bi-annual sculpture exhibition, and a number of social and cultural activities related to the cities of Lora Del Rio ( Seville, Spain) and Crucea ( Romania) with which Zoersel is fraternised for many years.

Zoersel has also a youth hostel. The oldest written documents related to Zoersel are from the 12 th Century but already the Romans settled it this region. One of the Roman roads was very near, and artefacts were found. In the 4th century the Franks occupied the country and settled also here in Zoersel. Some telling go that even long before also the Little people (gnomes) settled in Zoersel and that you can see them some times in the woods. In fact if you analyse the general contour of Zoersel you will find the shape of a friendly gnome. So ...!? To be sure ... little people exist you have to come to Zoersel and see for yourself ... but I am sure you will find a lot of happy people here in Zoersel ... and you will enjoy in anyway your stay!
