Late 1999, General Bob, Keith and Farhigh met on a local bashment. General Bob and Farhigh had been playing at parties in the erea and Keith had done some warming-up for Bong Productions (Respect all over). All 3 a little experience but a never ending love and devotion for dancehall/reggae music.
Their major goal would be: playing high grade music fi high grade people inna high grade style and fashion !
In the same period legalisation of marihuana became a number one topic for the youth in Belgian streets, even the gouvermant was thinking about toleration of ganja. High Grade became the most common name for the herb on Jamaïca around the same time. High-Grade (according Webster's Dictionary): of fine or superior quality ... A sound was born ! In no-time High Grade Sound managed to create their own vibe and vision in the Belgian dancehall scene.
HGS is a pioneer in belgian dancehall on the internet, promotors of the first belgian dancehall board and events on the WWW. This website has been online since October 2000 and has been evolving ever since.
Perez joined the crew in the autumn of 2001 and works mainly behind the scenes, only a few months later Junior High was recruted, due to his hiphop experience with the "Antwerp Finest" he started handling the mic on HGS dances, and takes over the turntables quite often.
They juggled on small and big events like Laundrey Day 2003 & 2004, "The Netherlands versus Belgium", Happy², Reggae Geel 2004 etc. alongside sounds like Far West Crew (our mentors, maximum Respect), Boombastic, Back II Bass, Crucial P, Jugglin' Discotheque, Overproof, Uphill, Majestical, Civalizee Foundation, Flash it Up, Bassment Sound, Winnie Man Sound, Runn Sound, ...
November 2003 and January 2004 High Grade Sound and Far West Crew organised two international clashes on Belgium "neutral" grounds.
February 2005, High Grade Sound proves to be a worthy clash contestant on the anual Civalizee's 45 shootout, were they battled against the belgian dancehall veteran Crucial P and the Brussels foundation sound Bass Culture.
One year later they enter the ring again, this time steppin out as a true winner killing Original Red Alert, Natural Vibes (Germany) and Crucial P.
