Methodology
The initial fieldwork discussed above led to the development of 'homelabs', virtual surroundings in which different strategies concerning the adaptation of interiors on behalf of the visually impaired can be visualized and explored before being translated to real-life applications.
Since visually impaired people often experience interiors as transitional spaces through which they have to navigate, the first homelab (September 2006) was conceived as a game environment, 'navigation' being a key word in videogames.
In Homelab 1, visual and tactile parameters will be used to aid the navigation of the blind and the visually impaired.
