Drinks & food
When you’re organising a 3-day festival you have to indulge your visitors, and the best way to do that is to give them outstanding tasteful food and drinks. Hey, who feels good on the inside, radiates it on the outside, no doubt about that!
So, hurry up to the bar and enjoy plenty of (non-) alcoholic beverages. They are available at very affordable prices. Apart from the regular beers and soda, we’re also promoting some drinks that are sold by the non-profit organisation “Oxfam-Wereldwinkels”. This is the major shareholder in the cooperative organisation Oxfam Fairtrade, wholesaler in fair trade food products. At the current market price, farmers selling their coffee, cacao and sugar do not get sufficient income. Oxfam Fairtrade is fighting against this unfair situation...
If you support this idea, have one of the drinks we sell. We’ve got different ones for you to discover:
- First of all there ‘s the coffee. We have the Arabica-coffee, generally appreciated for its mild taste. A typical breakfast coffee, with its origins in Nicaragua, Bolivia, Guatemala, Honduras and Tanzania.
- Second of all and for the first time on the fest, we sell 2 fair trade beers: One dark beer with a nice balance of lightly sweet, sour and bitter and a full-bodied blond beer, fruity with a touch of bitter. Both beers with secondary fermentation in the bottle and brewed using traditional Belgian methods and raw materials from the South (Costa Rica (cane sugar), Bolivia (quinoa), India (basmati rice)). Watch out and take your precautions: 7,5 degrees alcohol!
- Last but not least we have several juices to offer. All of them contain no sugar and no artificial colours or flavours were added. Please excuse us if we have different flavours than mentioned below…:
- Orange juice: pure and unsweetened juice from oranges straight from Brazil & Cuba.
- Organic orange-mango: organic multi-fruit juice made of an exotic mix of orange juice and mango (19 %) all the way from Brazil.
- Tropical juice: a pure and unsweetened blend of exotic fruits. A healthy combination of oranges, mangos, passion fruits, pineapple, beetroots and apples. You get Cuba (oranges, mangos), Brazil (oranges, passion fruits) & India (pineapples) all in just one drink!
- Worldshake: a tasty original blend of grapefruits, oranges, bananas and beetroots, completed by freshly pressed apple juice. Please, have a taste of Cuba (oranges, grapefruits), Brazil (oranges) and Ecuador (bananas)!
Check the bar and go for your beloved taste and say as the local dialect says: “Ip joen mulle!”
But the innerself needs more than beverages, oh yes indeed, it also needs food.... And just like last year the food is provided by the ever friendly Tasha De Rycke, a.k.a. “Vegan Tash”, and her lovely assistants (male & female !!). They’re in charge of a huge kitchen team and they plan to prepare loads of vegan food, all tasteful and healthy as fuck! Don’t hesitate, walk, no… run to the food stand and choose between croissants/chocolate buns, sandwiches, a variety of burgers, etc. … . Every single day you can also pick up 2 different hot meals, which means 6 different ones during the fest! Check the kitchen message board for detailed information about the day’s menu and all other food matters.
And, hell yeah, it seems like we just can’t have enough... At the fest you’ll find splendid vegan ice cream too! And if we say splendid, we mean extremely splendid because the B’Nice Belgian Natural Vanilla Rice Cream even won the 2007 ‘Peta Proggy Award for Progress’ for best non-dairy food product. Admit it … you just have to try these great balls of ice! And, hoho, we’re making it even harder for you ice-lovers by serving you, besides the Vanilla Rice Ice, 4 more flavours of this first class Rice Ice: Strawberry, Mango, Chocolate & Ginger Bread (Speculaas!). And if you‘ve had all these and still want some more, you can start to lick some Coconut Ice.
Pretty soon we’re going to have to change the festival’s name to “Ieperfeast”. Enjoy it …
