WHAT?

Ieperfest is an independent 3-day Hardcore festival. It is not only the longest running outdoor underground festival of Europe, but also a household name across the world. The festival wants to offer a stage to an international variety of underground groups. We have no major budgets or sponsors and we try to do our own thing, i.e. booking a festival with a wide variety of bands. We try to forget competition and rather concentrate on what keeps us together than what separates us. In 2007 we are organising the 15th edition of what started as a small scale festival but slowly became an event with about 6500-7000 visitors from all over the world yearly. Last year we had visitors from Australia, Austria, Belgium (duh!), Brazil, Czech Republic, England, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Wales, etc. The international character and importance of the festival for the DIY hardcore community are huge!
Over the years we welcomed legendary acts like ABHINANDA, ACME, AGATHOCLES, ALL OUT WAR, AS FRIENDS RUST, BATHTUB SHITTER, BORN FROM PAIN, CALIBAN, CAREER SUICIDE, CATARACT, CATHARSIS, CHOKEHOLD, CONGRESS, DEAD STOP, DESPAIR, DISCARGA, EARTHMOVER, ENSIGN, FABULOUS DISASTER, FACEDOWNINSHIT, FEAR OF GOD, THE GET UP KIDS, GOOD CLEAN FUN, GRADE, HEAVEN SHALL BURN, HIMSA, HORSE THE BAND, HOT WATER MUSIC, INTEGRITY, INTENSITY, JR EWING, KNUT, LEIAH, LET IT BURN, LIAR, the LOCUST, MAINSTRIKE, MAJORITY RULE, MAXIMUM PENALTY, MENTAL, METROSCHIFTER, MÖRSER, MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD, NINE, das OATH, POINT OF NO RETURN, PRETTY GIRLS MAKE GRAVES, PURIFICATION, RATOS DE PORAO, REFUSED, REIZIGER, SATANIC SURFERS, SEEIN’ RED, SEPARATION, SERENE, SOME GIRLS, STIGMATA, SWING KIDS, SWITCHBLADE, 25 TA LIFE, VANILLA, VITAMIN X, VOORHEES, WITH LOVE, YEAR FUTURE … The list is endless!! Each evening ends with an indoor party with kids going wild on disco and other nice dance tunes (specific theme each evening), the atmosphere is crazy and also bands often seem to be more than happy to join in!

Ieperfest is not just about music however. There is room for debate and we always try to invite one or more speakers who can talk about topics that might be of interest for the visitors. In the past we have also exhibited art by people from the scene and we might just do it again this year.

WHO'S IN CHARGE?

Ieperfest is organised by 2 Belgian, not-for-profit DIY collectives sharing the same geographical & ideological roots: ART Vort’n Vis & Genet records. They represent over 16 years of experience of organising & promoting underground events. By joining hands, they manage to make the mother of all European underground hardcore festivals the big success it has always been. Profits are used to re-invest in the fest next year's edition.

FACILITIES?

Since a few years the open air Ieper summer hardcore festival takes place on the parking lot next to the Ieper “Jeugdstadion”, a huge camping site / playground / sports field at the border of the town (loads of green there!). The swimming pool next to the festival site has been fully operational again since 2004. We invite everyone to bring their swimming gear. However, do not forget to support the bands either!!

Skaters: bring your boards!! There are skate facilities next to the festival area!

CAMPING?

We advise everyone to come and stay for the entire 3 days. Just bring your tent & get a spot at the special Ieperfest camping site. It is situated next to the festival ground so you can pop in & out of your tent in between bands easily! The official Ieper camping site will be closed during the festival! Price: 5 euro per person per night. Open from Thu 23/8 till Mon 27/8.

PRE-FEST

On Thursday 23 August 5 bands will be playing at the pre-fest at 19.00 @ JOC, Ieper: DEMON SQUAD, MANS RUIN, COLLAPSED, ALL MY SINS & the BOSS. All of them are promising H8000 acts who deserve to be heard. Can’t think of a better way to get warmed up for the actual festival!!

MORE INFO ON THE AREA?

Ieper is situated in the Flemish speaking part of Belgium, in the so-called H8000 area (legendary among HC kids worldwide) and just 15 km away from the French border. The closest bigger cities are Kortrijk (B) & Lille (Fr). Ieper is a cosy town with just 25000 inhabitants, internationally known as one of the war fields during both the first & second World Wars. ACCESSIBILITY FOR DISABLED PERSONS

To make the accessibility of our festival as easy as possible for everyone, we made some special efforts for disabled persons. We realised these efforts with the support of the National Lottery and the organisation Intro.

For disabled persons we took the following measures:

• separate parking places near the festival
• adjusted toilet for disabled persons on the festival
• a raised stage to improve the visibility
• assistance dogs are allowed on the festival
• during the after-parties there’s also an adjusted toilet
• professional supervisors can enter for free (must show proof)
• if you have other questions, you can ask them to the workers at the entrance

This way, we hope that everyone can enjoy a pleasant festival.

More & more people are getting aware that a vegetarian or vegan diet is an interesting alternative for all the crap that society tries to spoon-feed us.
