We
bought this farm in 1992. Untill then it really been
used as a farm. So we had to tear down 900m2 stables in
all sorts of materials and forms.
On this picture, taken in the
fall of 1992 we were halfway. Originally the buildings
were standing next to the road you can see in the front
of this picture.
|
 |
About
the same place, 11 years later. All the buildings are
gone, first we tore them down with our bare hands, later
on we had the help of a big crane. After that we could
finally start with the garden. Since the soil was not
really good because of the former buildings it took us
several years of putting compost and manure in the
ground before the plants were willing to grow. |
 |
The
front of the house in 1992. On this picture you can also
see a part of the greenhouse which was 64 m2 big. It was
standing in our front garden so we took it down.
In the back of the garden we
placed two polythene tunnels instead and that is were we
grow our new plants these days.
|
 |
In
2003 the front looks like this. The frontgarden is
planted with mostly perennials and partly with bushes.
Since this is the north side of
the house we planted climbers wich give the house a
friendlier look and also give it some extra isolation. |
 |
Looking at this picture I find it hard to believe myself.
Both these pictures are taken from the bedroom window.
The first one was taken in 1995,
we were so happy then because the stables were gone and
we thought it to be a great improvement. |
 |
In
2001 we made this pond, and with that the view from the
window changed drastically. |
 |
In
1994, 2 years after we bought this house, we could
finally start our garden. |
 |
7
years later it is impossible to take a picture from the
very same place. On the original place there are now the
greenhouses, and there are some hedges in between. This
picture is the nearest we can take, and it shows that a
lot has changed. |
 |
After
a severe frost in february 1994 our future garden looked
like this..... |
 |
This
is 7 years later, taken from the same place. |
 |
A
picture taken in the summer of 95, the garden was for
the largest part still non-existent, we had to work
inside the house as well. |
 |
When
years went by we succeeded to turn it bit by bit into a
real garden. To get an idea: the tree you can see on the
picture above is the same one as the one on the right on
the picture next to this text. |
 |
Another illustration of what you can achieve with a lot
of courage, inspiration and simple hard work.
These two pictures are taken
from the same spot with an interval of 5 years.

 |
In
2003 it looks like this...... |
 |
This
looks like a bomb shelled town during a war but it is
the result of tearing down the former stables.
The floors were still there, parts
of the walls were still erect......
|
 |
But 10
years later we succeeded in making there a herbaceous
border that grows and flowers....... |
