The first rays of Etherial Dawn lured at the horizon when Peter (guitar) and Seb (keyboards) crossed musical paths after each having played in some other bands. In 1999, when their originally isolated riffs evolved from momentary unison into full-blown songs, they found the rhythmical wanderer Simon more than willing to play the drums. Soon thereafter, Bart, former vocalist of the formation Arcanum Sanguinis, was drawn to the mystical power of the ED muse and decided to reinforce it by becoming the band's frontman-singer. The call for a bass player was answered by Hans (ex-Painted Wood), who made the band seemingly complete. And yet… as the music maintained to develop into more complex structures and a gloomy though rigid sound, the muse yearned for something more, something truly ethereal which was to become the voice of soprano Kathelijne. After a while, a second guitar player, Kristof (ex-Aegrimonia, currently bassist with Axamenta) was summoned, but due to lack of time, the alliance did not last.
An undefined force of nature struck Seb when his elbow was broken in April 2002, putting the band out of action for quite a while. Ever since his blasphemously rapid recovery, the band is ardently working on new material. The result will appear in Spring 2003 on their second demo-cd. Meanwhile, ED is eager to climb on stage and try out their freshly spawned songs.
