Blog List Page

Angle has loads of options about the set up of your blog pages. These options can be found in Angle>Blog.

Setting your blog page

You can set your blog page from Settings>Reading. From the Front page displayssection, select A static page. Then pick up a page to use as a blog page from the Posts pagedropdown. It is suggested that you use a blank page, as all the contents of that page will get overriden by the blog list.

Setting the Blog page as described above is crucial for the website to work smoothly. This is because all the blog related pages (i.e author page, single post page etc.) might not load correctly the options set in Angle->General and Angle->Blog.

Setting a Masonry Blog page

Instead of using the default Blog layout to display your posts, you can set manually a Masonry blog page. Follow these simple steps to do so.

  1. Create a new page and add an empty row.
  2. Inside the row add a recent posts shortcode.
  3. From the shortcode's options pick the Layout to be Masonry.
  4. Fill the rest of the options as you wish.
  5. Save the page.
  6. Add the page to your menu. This is now your Masonry Blog.

Customizing Blog Pages

For more flexibility Angle allows you to override some general settings in your blog pages

Blog overrides

page

  • Override Top Bar: Show or hide the site's top bar.
  • Show Top Navigation: Show or hide the site's top navigation.
  • Override Top Navigation Swatch: Override the default site top nav swatch. Use this option to set up the page decoration on pages using the left or right sidebar template.
  • Override Footer Swatch: Override the default site footer swatch.

Setting blog overrides

In order for you to set the above overrides in your blog pages, you must follow these simple steps:

  1. If you already have a Posts pageset in Settings --> Reading locate that page, edit it and jump to step 3.
  2. Create a page and give it a name of your choosing ( do not add any content ).
  3. While you are still editing the page, set the overides that you want to take effect in your blog ( the options can be seen in the screenshot above ) and save your page.
  4. Go to Settings --> Reading, and in the Front page displayssection, select A static page. Then pick up the page you created in step 1 to use as a blog page from the Posts pagedropdown.
Setting the Blog page as described above is crucial for the overrides to work smoothly. Even if you do not want a static page as your front page, you will still have to go through the above steps. Once that is done you set the Front page displaysoption back to your preferred choice.

The takeaway of the above is that your Posts pagecontrols the overrides that will be applied in all your wordpress blog pages. In wordpress all of the following types of pages are considered blog pages and will be affected by the above overrides: Archive pages, author pages, category pages, single post pages, tag pages.
