About
the youth hostel
|
|
It wasn't easy.
It is a long story. But
the Leuven hostel is now open for
business! A youth hostel? Many older people link the concept youth
hostel with huge dormitories, everybody in bed
at 9 pm and doing the
dishes. Nope, that's not us! We can
best be classified as an easy-going, modern and
budget friendly place to stay.
We serve youth groups but also adult
societies, next to individuals of course; young and old, Belgian and international. We offer spacious
rooms for 2, 4 and 6 persons,
each with their own shower
and toilet.
The youth hostel consists
of a newly built part, that
houses the bedrooms, and a renovated
old school. In the renovated
part you will find the front desk, the lounge, the bar, the restaurant
and the garden . Furthermore the youth hostel has three meeting rooms available
(with space for up to 100 people), an internet point, a bicycle
shelter, etc. Food and drinks We serve a variety of meals in the youth hostel. An extensive breakfast buffet is included in the overnight price. Lunch packages can be ordered,
and in the evening a hot meal
is available at 6.30 pm.
All meals, except breakfast, need to be pre-booked; remember to do so when you order your beds!
The Leuven youth hostel contains the hostel bar "The Rusty
Elbow" with, on those rare warm days, a sunny terrace. We will serve you a Leuvenese pintje or a fine regional abbey beer. Of course we also have sodas, coffee and tea. The Rusty Elbow is open every night.
Jeugdherberg "De
Blauwput" We are open from 7am to 11pm, every day! Check-in
between 3pm and 10pm. How to get
here By car: Leuven
is situated next to the motorways E40 and E314. No matter from
where you approach Leuven, take the first exit "Leuven" you
see and drive onto the
Leuven ringroad. When on the ringroad, follow direction Tienen.
At the big crossroad called
"Tiensepoort" drive away
from Leuven, direction of
Tienen. After about 300 metres you will
reach traffic lights. Turn left direction "Diest", onto the Martelarenlaan. You are now following
the railroad tracks. When
you have driven about 1,5 kilometer (one mile) you will
pass the train station on your
left. The hostel is then on your right. WARNING: the
Leuven ringroad is equipped
with about 40 automatic traffic cameras! Mind your speed! Parking: parking is available next to the hostel (not for free). To reach the nearest (paying) secure
parking, return to the ringroad of Leuven, and in
the tunnel under the train station you take Parking Ring.
The youth hostel is situated
200 metres further; take the pedestrian railway tunnel exit Kessel-Lo
and cross the street. By public transport: take
the train or the bus to Leuven; inside
the new pedestrian tunnel
under the railway station
you follow the signs "Kessel-Lo" (near platform 9). Leave the
tunnel and cross the street; the youth hostel is there. WARNING:
when in the French-speaking
part of Belgium, do not
order a ticket to "Louvain" because you might
end up in Louvain-La-Neuve, our
French-speaking sister city about
30 kilometres south of
Leuven. Still not clear? An interactive and zoomable city map is available here. Use
the booking pagina for current rates
and reservations! And all your
other questions will be answered
on our FAQ page. NEW: a road description
to take along! |
