'p l a c e s' l i v i n g b e t w e e n Lieve Verbeeck has been creating works since the end of the 1980's on themes related nature, portraits and places. She takes pictures 'in the head' by seeing of traces made by walking in a natural setting and creates drawings and paintings by placing those ideas in a new dimension, a little personal and intimate world, the idea of discovering impressions and lights by tones, lines and colourvalues, in all his contrasts. This work is made by arranging, moving ideas to try to connect with an abstract 'pure' world. The simple form reminds us of ancient remains, a certain moment in time in a certain place. Every 'man', 'place', 'natural setting' has a history and is an evoluating 'area'. ° 1964 hasselt (belgium) | 1980-84 beeldende kunsten, p.h.i.k.o. hasselt | 1984-88 sculpture, the royal academy of fine arts of ghent |
