Luc's guitar pages

Guitar player Luc Van Steenbergen was
born 1964 in Turnhout, Belgium.

At the early age of seven, he studied classical piano
at the hand of Miss Ann Hoet, switching over to
playing the guitar at fourteen years of age.

Next to his studies of classical guitar at Mister Paul Keeris,
Luc also started playing electric guitar in bands
and was awarded a silver medal
with funk soulrockband StickS'N'StoneS, Humo's Rock Rally 1994,
placed only after Evil Superstars with Mauro Pawlowski.
During his carreer Luc gained experience as a live music performer
and also as a studio guitar player in numerous projects
and in different genres of music.

He performed on national and international stages such as
Bourlaschouwburg Antwerp, Phill's Jazz Kitchen Brussels,
Melkweg Amsterdam, Woordfees Festival Stellenbosh(South Africa),
Rock Am Wald Festival Frankfurt, and on the cruise ship' The Pride of York'
P&O North Sea Ferries, from Zeebrugge to Hull (Great-Britain).

At present, Luc has a pleasant, acoustic nylon string finger-style,
classical SOLO guitar repertoire, ideal for animating quiet events.
And also a fusion electric JAZZ guitar repertoire,
for more lively and bigger events,
such as festivals, artistic music cafés, parties, receptions.

Luc Van Steenbergen is a professional guitar instructor
and is available for workshops and private teaching of both
classical finger-style guitar and electric flat-picking guitar.
His teaching style is beginner friendly and
accessible to absolute beginners, intermediate and advanced students,
and has been teaching and studying guitar since 1994.

In the past he has worked as a classical guitar art teacher
at NIKO, Noord-Limburgs Instituut Voor Kunstonderwijs in Neerpelt,
at 'Stedelijke Academies Voor Muziek' in Genk, Opglabbeek, Boxbergheide,
Baarle Hertog, Ravels, Rijkevorsel, Beringen, Diest, Aarschot, Boom,
Puurs, Reet, Ruisbroek, Vilvoorde, Herentals, Noorderwijk, Gierle, Vorselaar,
Eksaarde, MAGO-Antwerpen, Hove, Vorst Laakdal

With a keen interest in music and the arts in general,
Luc promotes a vision that trancends boundaries between
the different genres, cultures and creative arts and
it is this passion that has profoundly influenced
his style of guitar playing.
Luc is inspired by guitarists such as
Nicolas Alfonso, Vini Reilly, Johnny Marr, Mark Knopfler
Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Carlos Santana,
David Gilmour, Lindsey Buckingham, George Benson, John Scofield.

"Guitar playing is a gateway to a healthier lifestyle,
that takes in life itself and it's just as much a valid part of my life
as is going for the occasional pizza or fruit fast.
It is important to live a balanced lifestyle
through exploring consciousness in different ways".
