SERIAL COMMUNICATION BETWEEN YOUR ZENITH/HEATH Z100 AND A PC

Use a crossing cable between the computers , connect it to J2 on the Z100 and the serial port on your pc

pin 2 to 3
pin 3 to 2
pin 4 to 5
pin 5 to 4
pin 6 to 20
pin 7 to 7
pin 8 to 8
pin 20 to 6

Start your pc in dos
start PROCOMM RS232 communication program or another modem program
ALT-P =line setup choose 9600,N,8,1,com1 (or other comm port)
ALT-E = full duplex

Z100 start Modemz program
SET =command and choose 9600 baud
L=half duplex

YOU should have communication between both computers ,type characters on one computer and see them on the other

For file transfer in PROCOMM choose upload or download on the PC , protocol WXModem and the file names

For file transfer under Modemz use commands R filename or S filename
