Testimony about the Resort and about Myself The Resort User: gloriamaria April 22, 2004 One of Marriott's best!!! This is truly a five star resort, location is great, near Puerto Banus and so many restaurants. The units are nicely furnished and the staff is efficient and quite helpful. While in Costa del Sol don't miss exploring the white villages (pueblos blancos), Casares, Mijas and Ronda to name a few. We loved this awesome resort!! User : zzparis February 8, 2004 This is a first class resort, as you would expect from Marriott. Great swimming pools, large units with excellent furnishings and accomodating staff. Most US travelers don't know there are 30+ golf courses in the immediate area, the most famous is Valderrama where the '97 Ryder Cup was held. Great local resturants and you need to visit Porto Banus (10 km) where the rich and famous hang out in their mega-yachts. 100's of great shops and resturants there. User: sandar We had a great time and the Marriott was just as wonderful as we expected from all the previous reviews here and its high rating with "Timeshare User Group" (WWW.TUG2.NET) We found availability for our stay at Marriott Marbella for the beginning of June via Redweek Classifieds. We were in a spacious beautifully decorated 2 bdrm 2 bath unit with marble floors, full kitchen, laundry ROOM w/washer+dryer, large balcony off livingroom, small balcony off master bdrm all facing the ocean with a great view. There is a door that seperates the 2nd bdrm/bath allowing privacy for a second couple. The resort has a gift shop/small store with essentials and basic food stuff with wonderful pastries and freah breads made daily. We also found a nice grocery store nearby and actually cooked a couple of meals (breakfast and lunches). We did day trips to Malaga, Granada, Gibraltar, Ronda, Mijas, Marbella Old Town and had a great time at the Casino in Puerto Banus. The weather was perfect, the sun was warm, the ocean breeze cool and the ocean was delightful for swimming. This resort gives attention to all details throughout and is a 5* Resort "Our all time favourite." May 6, 2004 Douglas, Isle of Man, British Isles We first visited the Marriott's Marbella Beach resort in 2002. This year we are going for five weeks. I think that says it all! We went on some wonderful coach tours and if we visited the Old Town, which was often!, we took a taxi from the Hotel and returned the same way. No car hire for us. The taxis are so cheap and you don't have parking problems etc. to worry about. Everyone in the party can view the sights, rather than concentrating on the busy roads - and they are busy believe me! The coach tours were booked at reception as were the taxis. The standards at the Marriott are first class and cannot be faulted in any way. They have access to their own stretch of beach via a door which is operated by your room key. The grounds are lovely to walk through and swimmers are well catered for. They even have a nudist section in the grounds for all over sunbathing! It might be a touch cool for that when we go in October though! The weather is still warm enough to walk around without a jacket during the day. It was November last time we visited and the weather was just perfect for us. Roll on October! 01/04/2007 Everyone goes on vacation for a myriad of reasons. Some have little ones that need excitement, sun, and water, while others may just want to relax. Well, we fit into the second group. My wife and I are professionals and lead extremely busy lifestyles. Our 2 children, who are not children anymore, are on their own and it is just us. When we go away we want to “get lost”. No phones, fax’s, e-mails, PDA’s, Blackberry’s etc. We just returned from the Marriott Marbella site and are just ecstatic. The property was extremely well maintained, the staff could not do enough for you, and the location was perfect. First, the property was manicured everyday and spotless. Also, there was sangria, Spanish, paella classes’ etc, everyday to keep you busy if you did not choose to leave the location. Second, the staff was supreme. When we arrived we were told of the villa which we were to occupy and my wife asked for one that faced the Mediterranean and our request was immediately granted. Before we left our home in the USA my wife asked that I do not forget our voltage converter. Well I forgot it, as I have in the past, and now have four of them. I asked the concierge where I could get one and the concierge stated that the store is kind of hidden and that he would pick one up on his way home and that we could pay him in the morning. This is just one of many courtesies that were extended to us. Our villa was spacious, extremely clean, and had everything we needed, as I love gourmet cooking and I was in heaven. I suggest a rental car as the Malaga airport has all the major brands and the pick-up and return is exceptionally easy. Navigating through the streets and highways was very easy with our six-speed diesel Renault. Major credit cards are accepted everywhere. Supermarkets begin with the 7-11 size all the way up to supermarkets resembling Wal-Mart’s. If you travel down A-7, towards Marbella, and get off at the Ojen Exit, there is a huge Circuit-City size electronic store, Home Depot size furnishing store, WalMart size everything store, with an enclosed mall in an area called La Canada. Too many stories to mention here, but the trip was fabulous and the property and staff were the same. The site is owned by Marriott and I need not say more. My wife and I travel all over the world every year as we own four timeshare weeks through Marriott. If anyone is pondering purchasing a Marriott timeshare, just email us and we will close the deal. We have had our timeshares since 1995 and have NEVER been disappointed. "lovely resort" April 3, 2004 Palm Harbor, FL My husband, 11 year old daughter and I spent a week at the MMBR. Having spent time at several Marriott resorts including Maui, Kauai, Oahu, St Thomas, St Kitts and Costa Rico, I would have to say this one was very nice.. One of the main reasons was the accommodations. We had a 2 bedroom w/ a balcony which was quite large and beautifully decorated. It even had it's own laundry room! Housekeeping was very good. We were in the back, but still had a pretty view of one of the pools and the sea in the distance. There was an indoor pool which was nice for doing laps. another quiet pool w/out a view of the sea and then a gorgeous lagoon style pool right off the beach. You have to remember that this isn't the Caribbean so the beach left a bit to be desired....rough, brown sand, rocks and rough surf. We didn't venture into the water once, but spent most of our leisure time at the pool. The restaurants at the resort were good, nothing to rave about, but decent with good service. The concierge was extremely helpful and pleasant and directed us to a variety of things to do. Our favorites were visiting the towns of Marbella and Puerto Banus, taking a half day and driving to Mijas and the highlight was taking a one day tour of Tangiers in Morocco. The tour picked us around 7:00 right at the resort and we were back that evening. All in all, a very pleasant week. Mariott is definetley a name that won't let you down. I stayed in a 3 bedroom villa which accomidated a total of 7 of my friends and family. Having a kitchen helped us save thousands of Euro in cost of restuarants and taxi rides. Theres is a "Opencor" market (kinda like a fancy 7 eleven) and a "Super Sol" super market in walking distance. The grounds are immaculate and very clean. The premises is gaurd gated 24 hours a day which made it very exclusive to its guest. Also has beach access to the meditterainian sea. We planned tours through the Marriott to Grenada and Morrocco. We had our own tour guide and tour bus exclusive to Marriott guest (Marbella & Andaluza) in Morrocco which was a impressive surprise and felt my investment in the Marriott was valued. Parking is underground which is sectioned of for your unit so you have direct access to you villa area. no need to look for a taxi just call the front desk. one will be called for you. Puerta Banus is close by and cost about 24 euro for a taxi ride there so you can party and get as drunk as you want all night. Peek time for clubbing/disco in Puerta Banus is 1am-6am. A great place for your people back packing in europe. I met a group of 8 backpacker who met there and said it was there fancy place to stay during there journey. Overall my freinds and family were impressed. 23-04-2007 Wij komen al jaren in dit resort en zijn zeer tevreden. Direct aan het strand,prachtige tuinen,autoparking onder het gebouw of kort bij de ingang van je appt,goed beveiligd,net personeel maar ook nette gasten,prachtige receptie,heerlijk fitness/gym-ruimte en saunas. Het geheel netjes bijgehouden en schoon.,.zoals men mag verwachten van Mariott. Super-klasse!! 30-10-2006 Het resort ligt ongeveer 8 km van het centrum van Marbella. Gelegen direct aan het strand. De omgeving zijn vakantiewoningen en een collega resort ernaast. Het is een resort in de luxe klasse. De appartementen zijn groot en van alles voorzien en luxe ingericht. Het is er rustig, verwacht geen drukke animatie teams en de bekende typische Nederlandse "gezelligheid" want dat is er niet. Heerlijk zwembad met bar en een goed restaurant. Het complex is zeer goed onderhouden en het personeel is altijd vriendelijk. Na aankomst volgt er een uitnodiging voor informatie over de omgeving en Timesharing opties (absoluut NIET agressief zoals vaak voor gewaarschuwd) Een geweldig resort, een echte vakantiebestemming. 08-07-2009 Peter, We had a great time in the Marriott Playa.  The apartment was very nice with wonderful views. We didn't expect to like it as much as the Marriott Marbella,  but ended up much preferring Playa. All went well in this resort and as anticipated. However we would have hoped that the beach is conducive to swimming and other water activities. It was rocky.
