Life:
Arnold V was count of Loon from
1279 till 1323. He was also count of Chiny ( Luxenbourg ) and Agimont ( Namen ).
Arnold married
Margaretha of Vianden, daughter of count Filips I of Vianden. Arnold V was bound
to the flemish party as
a liege man to Gwijde of Dampierre, count of Flanders, for Agimont. He did
however not show up with his army when
Flanders battled with the french army of Filips IV in 1302 at the
Battle of the Golden
Spurs. France suffered a terrible
defeat and the french king nearly escaped captivity. Probably not believing in
Flanders chances to win the battle he and
his army paid a courtesy visit to the Duke of Brabant, John II, instead.
