Books on Order

Amazon Logo -> Buy The Book! To make it easy for you to buy some(*) of these books,
Starting from August's orders, I'll provide links with each book ( to Amazon.com )
* = (that is, if the books were ordered by Internet... )

In contrast to the rest of this library, this section of Patrick's NLP Library is completely virtual. It contains books that I have ordered from Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble or another bookstore. Once they are delivered, they will probably be reviewed and added to the appropriate section of Patrick's Library. Books can stay in this section for quite a while: Since I live in Europe and order my books by "surface-mail", it can take 6 to 8 weeks before I receive the books. And then I need to find time to review them...
Apart from the books on this page, there are some NLP books from which I requested a review copy, but some authors (such as currently Bandler and John La Valle) seem too afraid to send me one. That's why I don't mention these books on this page: my guess it that if the author doesn't want to send it, the quality won't be good...)

This page can also be interesting if you want feedback about the time it takes to get books delivered to Europe... and about cost (I have the impression that Amazon gives (a bit) more discounts, where Barnes & Noble charges less for shipping).

Ordered from Amazon.com on 20 AUGUST 1998

I completed my library on the sections of psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, cognitive linguistics & cognitive grammar. Also, I bought some books that are related to NLP (in the sense that NLP-authors refered to these books). While looking for all these books, I also stumbled by some other books I couldn't resist. Finally I added the upcoming book of Goleman to my shopping cart (not released yet, but you can pre-order it from Amazon). I guess this purchase will keep me busy for some weeks...

Ordered from Amazon.com on August 10, 1998

The books by Alan Watts were recommended to me by Peter Van Damme, one of my former bosses who became a good friend. The book by Miller is the one describing the TOTE model; the one of Systems Theory is one of the Basic books in that area. (Since some of the books weren't available right away, I guess it will be about 15 october by the time I actually have these books in my hands).

Ordered from Amazon.com on Jul 31 1998

I've been willing to buy the books from Wolinsky and from Watzlawick for a while, but each time I looked for them in the bookstore I didn't have much success. I'd also like to have copies of the Ginder books, but I know they have been out of print. I'm curious to know if I'll ever get them...

Shipping & Handling (Surface): $15.70 (for 6 books)

Ordered from Amazon.com on Jul 30, 1998

I wanted to buy the books from Maturana and Varela while I was in Santa Cruz last summer (1997), but at that time I couldn't find them in any of the 4 large bookstores the center of Santa Cruz counts (and in 2 or 3 other stores in the area). Meanwhile, I learned that an average bookstore has about 150.000 books in stock, compared to 3 Million for Amazon.com ... The Vaihinger book also stays on my wish-list, so I gave it another try.

Ordered from Barnes & Noble on Jul 29, 1998

Its time that I start studying the DSM guide, so I ordered some books on this topic. DSM is the "official" guide to mental illnesses in the USA. If it ain't in there, it doesn't exist... Strange that the number of illnesses has more than doubled since 1968.

Ordering from Barnes & Noble seems to cost me less in shipping, but the books could be more expensive. Sorry if the titles are abreviated and if the author is missing: I just used "cut and paste" from the confirmation e-mail and Barnes & Noble gives you less information than Amazon.com.
