Metal To Infinity

It would not surprise me if the name Outrage sounds familiar to your ears. Way back in the late '80s a Japanese Thrash Metal act stole my attention with their debut “Black Clouds”… the band was called Outrage. While talking with a few people at our local Metal bar lately, someone told me about the Austrian based Outrage as well – maybe there are more bands wearing the same band name, I don’t know and actually I don’t care either. To me, the ones that played under this name first came from Germany and were formed in the early '80s and played Black / Thrash Metal. They’ve released four demos in the early years of existence, then after the reunion in 2004 - five self released CDs (and one EP) and now via Metal On Metal Records, Germany based old school Metal act Outrage is back with album numero six – here’s “Go To Hell”!

Twelve tracks are unleashed upon my Classic Metal heart and soul and feels amazingly good! Fact is that all of the songs (except for one) are taken from the period between 1983 and 1987, pure old school feeling… damn right, those were the days! This album was recorded last summer actually in a way Outrage did it back then. The fact that they used most of the original early '80s equipment while recording this album makes ”Go To Hell” even more special to me. The sound is very heavy – the untouchable warmth of a good old school vinyl album is what I really feel while listening to the entire output. I bow to efforts produced like this one… hard and heavy all the way!

To those not familiar with Outrage I’d like to say shame on you first of all, but forget about that – big thanks to Metal On Metal Records who gives you the opportunity to discover the band right now. “Go To Hell“ definitely sets your place on fire with their excellent mixture of pure old school Black and Thrash Metal. I’m absolutely not a fan of the today's Black Metal movement but I truly like the so called ‘first wave of Black Metal’ – a lot! Blackened Metal troops like Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Bathory, Venom and stuff are the most popular ones you will find in my own CD collection.

But what does it have to do with Outrage? Well, in fact everything! Outrage plays exactly in the vein of the bands I just mentioned. Compelling rhythms alternation with fast sections, heavy loaded guitar riffs / bass lines and hard hitting drums – and better watch out for the vocal delivery as well! His way of singing in a quite unique, aggressive and screechy way still haunts me in my dreams. At least that’s what I feel but better judge for yourself. Killer tracks to me: ‘Into The Abyss Of Belial’, ‘Perseus Rules’, ‘Infernal Recruit’, ‘Slave Trader’, ‘Pact Of The Wicked’ and ‘Black Metal Attack’.

Collectors, followers or defenders of no-nonsense, classic Black / Thrash Metal can’t do anything else but place an order at the homepage of Metal On Metal Records at:

My Points: 87 / 100
