SPEED LIMIT - MONEYSHOT

PURE ROCK RECORDS / PURE STEEL RECORDS / BERTUS

Metal To Infinity

Pure Rock Records seems to be a new label, or should I say sublabel and with Speed Limit they are giving their first born birth. This is a glorious moment for the label, a memorable day and it must be celebrated with something special. Speed Limit? Hardly heard of it, if we talk music because for the rest I really hate speed limits, as a biker…

Speed Limit is an Austrian band, another country that isn’t really common of we talk Metal. As a matter of fact Speed Limit isn’t a pure Metal band, let’s call them a Heavy Rock formation. Here and there they’re flirting with AOR but, they’re playing the heavier tunes too. To me it’s reason enough give the band all of my attention. Not that this is a hard job because Speed Limit really is an enjoyable band, playing tunes that really fits with the first sun rates of Spring.

Not at all I would have thought this was an European band if I wouldn’t have read it. Speed Limit really sounds as a better American melodic Heavy Metal band. Stryper, Mass and many early melodic bands are crossing my mind. I you know that this is a reunion CD I suppose this makes a lot clear. Yes, a reunion album because this band was formed in the late Seventies and the band released two albums and an EP before, talking about the era 1986-1992. Their song “Lady” even made it to the charts in several countries…

So yes, Speed Limit contains good and experienced musicians and the result is an album that really should be heard by fans of bands I’ve mentioned before. This isn’t a Christian Metal band but just a few guys who are able to perform well structured and well written songs, foreseen with fast fingered melodic guitars, good played riffs and great vocals. Only a few spins are necessary to sing along and feel spring fevers…

My Points: 80 / 100 (Review by Officer Nice)
