Metal To Infinity

During the holidays it’s always calm if we talk about new releases. There are the traditional summer festivals and here and there there’s bands that play in a club but mostly the bands wait to release their newbies ‘till after summer. That doesn’t actually count for the ‘little’ bands if you allow me to label them so.

Zero King is an unknown band to me but it seems these guys are heading from West-Virginia, USA. Their debut EP saw the light of day in 2006 and ever since they had the chance to support some awesome bands on stage. Anthrax, Twisted Sister, Airborne… Not bad at all! Zero King seems to be a band that is able to entertain a public and their hard hitting Rock has a lot to do with it!

This CD is good produced and Zero King sounds professional. Musical wise they remind me of a mixture between Glam Metal (Motley Crue or Guns ‘n Roses for example), Hard Rock (MSG, Tesla, Whitesnake, UFO…) and this with a bit modern Groovy sound. Nevertheless the traditional influences are very clear and so Zero King isn’t the band that will blow you away because of some innovating performances. No, Zero King is a band that might not take their selves too seriously on the on hand, on the other I’m quite sure that these guys know what they’re doing!

“A Taste Of Self-destruction” is full of songs that are easy on the ear and will seduce easily fans of the bands I’ve mentioned before. Andy Haught contains the ideal voice for this kind of music! Looking at the front cover, a band’s picture, I see True Metal heads, awesome! No Glam Rockers, but 4 lads with black shirts, long hairs and every other possible cliché if we talk metal, just the way we want it!

Zero King also contains a very good guitar player and Shane Day delivers one after another great guitar solo! Thanks to his riffs, supported by hard hitting drums and bass, Zero King sounds heavy all the way! The 5 songs on this album/EP are very enjoyable and make me believe we will hear more from Zero King in the future. It would be a miracle if no bigger label would pick up these guys!
