GENERAL APPEARANCE
Rustic dog, well proportioned..
Rather elongated harmonious in shape and attractive in appearence.
An athletic nature with well developed muscles owing to his regular exercise
The profile is rectilinear, his sight, scent and hearing are well developed.


CHARACTER
Faitfull, obedient, cheerfull, brave, hard working, watchfull and well balanced.
A great learning ability owing to his extraordinary mental graps.
He adapts to all situations and conditions


IMPORTANT PROPORTIONS
Lenght of body / size = 9 / 8
Depth of chest / size = 4 / 8
Lenght of muzzle / lenght of skull = 2 / 3
(lenght from tip of nose to eye : eye to back of skull)


CRANIAL REGION
Head : Strong, carried with elegance.
Skull
Flat with only slightly marked occipital crest.
Axes of skull and muzzle parallel.
( from base of skull to stop and from stop to tip of nose should be parallel)
Teeth : Well formed, white and with well developed canines.
Stop : Facial cranial depression slightly marked.
Facial region : Profile is rectilinear.
Nose
Nostrills well defined.
Nose is of the same colour or slightly darker than the darkest tone of the coat.
Eyes
Slightly oblique position and set well apart, very expressive.
Hazelnut to chestnut deep brown depending entirely on the coat colour.
The conjunctiva is not noticable (haws not visible)
Pigmentation of eyelids should harmonize with the colour of the coat
Ears
Set at medium height, triangular and drooping, slightly rounded at tip.
Neck
Short, well muscled and without dewlap.
Set well into the shoulders.
Body
Robust, level back, wither not prominent.
Deep chest with well arched brisket showing important heart and lung room.
Depth of brisket to height at wither is 4 : 8.
Lenght of body to height at wither is 9 : 8.
Topline : Straight.
Withers : Hardly marked.
Back : Straight and powerfull.
Croup : Slightly sloping.
Chest
Broad and well let down, ribs well arched, diameter of thorax ample indicating considerable respiraroty.
Underline : Belly slightly tucked up.
Tail
Set at medium height.
Docking must be done at the height of the 2nd to the 4th caudel vertebra.
Personal note : a dog should have a natural tail.


LIMBS
Forearms : Straight and sturdy
Upper arms : Sturdy and sloping.
Forequarters : Strong and vertical.
Shoulders : Well muscled and oblique.
Carpus and pastern : Straight, rather short.
Elbows : Close to the chest, straight and parallel.
Front feet : Rounded, toes tight, toenails may vary in colours, resistant pads.
Hindquarters
Perfectly vertical with not too pronounced angulation and muscles capable of transmitting to the body a very energetic impulsion and the spring necessary for easy and elegant jumping.
Upper thighs : Long and well muscled.
Second things : Ell developed.
Hind feet : As the forefeet.
Hock joint : Well let down.
Hock : Short, lean and perpendicular to the ground.
Gait movement : The preferred gait is the trot. The gallop is short and jerky.
Skin
Supple, fine and well adhering to the body.
Can be pigmented brown or black, or be without pigment according to the colour of the coat.
The same applies to the mucous membranes.


COAT
Hair
Always curly and of woolly texture.
Wavy or curly when short, can form cords when it is long.
Clipped subjects are admitted. The clipping is always complete and even.
The coat should be in the same lenght all over.
Must never become an "aesthetic" grooming.


COLOUR
Solid
White, black and coloured brown in their different shades.
Bicoloured
In their different shades white and black or white and brown.
Tri-coloured
Subjects are not admitted.


SIZE and WEIGHT
Height at withers/ weight
  Males 44 to 50 cm. ( 17.3 to 19.7 inc.) 18 to 22 kg. (39.7 to 48.5 lbs.)
Females 40 to 46 cm. ( 15.7 to 18 inc.) 14 to 18 kg. ( 30 to 39.7 lbs.)


FAULTS
Any departure from the foregoing points should be considered a fault and the seriousness with which the fault should be regarded should be in exact proportion to its degree.
Serious faults
Limbs incorrect.
Belly let down or excessively tucked up.
Dorso-lumbar region distinctly saddle backed.


ELIMINATING FAULTS
Spotty cat, dalmation type, speckled or flecked.
Inferior or superior prognathism.
Unbalanced character.
Presence of dewclaws.
Smooth coat.
Albinism.

Note : Male animals should have 2 apparently normal testicles fully descended into the scrotum.
