Subject: foodintollerance tests

Hallo Diane ,
Danny tells me that he uses only 2 drugs :
1) INDERAL 40mg (since 20 years and he will have to take it for the rest of
his life) .
It is a drug for the hart . It also lowers his bloodpressure .
He takes 1 tablet a day .
2) LIORESAL
This is a drug which diminishes the spastic movements of  the muscles .
He also takes 1 tablet a day .
His condition got worse two years ago , in the summer of 1999 , and he then
was given a 5 day treatment with corticoids . Result : He could walk again
but only for a very short period of time .
He has never used the immunosupresive MS drugs like interferon beta or other
MS
drugs .
We find It hard to believe that these 2 drugs that he is taking , could
hamper the testresults

>>>>>>>>>They will not  hamper the results.

I myself suspect that the alcohol in his blood could perhaps have some
effect .
Could the presence of alcohol in his blood influence testresults ?

>>>>>>>Only to make things show up. Not to mask them.

Or could his immunesystem have become so depleted that hardly no antibodies
are formed ?

>>>>>>>>>>This can happen in Immunodeficiency syndromes but only as a very
late problem.  I suggest that he discusses these results with his doctor

We also took very special care with the samples . It is certain that no
mistakes were made there .
I read that you are actually doing a study with MS patients and they do not
always come
up to things.

>>>>>>>>>We have a small prepilot study underway with MS-Diet but as the
investigator I am blind to any results until the study is finished.    It is
regarded as cheating for the investigators to check results mid trial!
Theoretically there should be some relation between leaky gut problems
and MS but in my experience (I was a Family Physician for 27 years) MS is
notoriously difficult to research in any rigorous way because of its
fluctuating nature and remissions.  These make it very difficult to assess
cause and effect without using vast and impractical timescales and patient
numbers.    It is also likely to have multiple factors in its causation, of
which food intolerance may be one, so quite a few people with MS will not
have any intolerances.
I'm sorry to sound so negative but the realistic view is that some
people will have food intolerances and some will not.  Food Intolerance
affects about 45% of the population as a whole and there is no reason to
suppose that some of the people who have MS will also have eczema, migraine
or irritable bowel syndrome (Our top 3 ) with the symptoms masked by the MS
which is a much worse problem.
