The Silly Software Company develops silly software applications, low budget IT, poor folks technology - things to do with old computers and obsolete systems, such as Ms-DOS, Windows 3.1.
It's mission :
A computer in every home,
but not necessarily a new one,
and
Internet Access for Everyone,
preferably without heavy software or expensive computers
Silly Software is software that performs ordinary tasks in a rather silly way. You don't always have to buy specialized software, some things can easily be done with software that's present on any computer. You only have to figure out how to make it do the things you want done. And then organize it in such a way that it becomes (almost) automatic.
An other typical Silly Software product would be software nobody is waiting for. A programming newbie might write a silly game, a programming exercise that turned out rather well, or a completely useless program that evalutes the chances of making a profit in a cow's embryo investment scheme. Or a tool to calculate how to correctly grade multiple choice exams.
Lastly, Silly Software may be software that is develloped for silly
reasons. Silly Software Devellopers won't get much Fame and Fortune.
It's also not their (main) motivation. Apart from the fun of
programming, laziness is an important factor in creating Silly Software
Products. Our Senior Software Developer -- we call him 'Silly Softy' --
is so lazy that, to avoid some boring task, he'd spent more time
figuring out how to get his computer to do it than it would take to
just go and it.
But maybe laziness was the motivation that lead to all great inventions
(the wheel, the combustion engine, the electric tooth brush, ...).
Silly Softie knows a thing or two about programming and scripting, but it takes more than a thing or two to develop serious software.
All Silly Software Products, Productions and Projects are thoroughly tested, and guaranteed to work in their test environment, i.e on Silly Softie's computer. No guaranties of their usefulness, harmlessness or functionality can be given when our products are used in circumstances beyond our control, i.e. any other computer system than ours.
