When you start-up LihaLo, you are right at the place to log a New Qso.
You must be seeing something like the picture below (reduced in size (pixels)).

Most of the time, when I start up LiHaLo, I immediately press Quick DX or CLUSTER.
By doing so, you will make a link to http://oh2aq.kolumbus.com/dxs/dx25.html and a dx-window will pop-up. Please, go ahead and try it out.
If you click somewhere else (outside) the dxcluster-window, the dxcluster-window will go out of sight : it has moved to the background.
If you use Linux and KDE : right-click on the dxcluster-window upper-border and select : "Always On Top".
MS Explorer/windows/Mac : no idea. I thought something like "float".
Now the dxcluster will be visable at all times. Neat, isn't it ?
The position and the shape of the Quick DX Window etc. are defined in java.script . So if you're not a newbie and you would like to change it, you can do it there.
For more information about DX : see DX-INFO .
Simply fill in the call of the station you want to log. Maybe you have noticed : there was a focus on the callfield. So if you did not open the dxcluster as mentioned above, you still have that focus on the callfield. In that case there's no need to click in the callfield nor to use your mouse. Your hands can stay on your keyboard. In the other case : click in the callfield.
And now : Just fill in the CALL and TAB away!
You NEED to fill in the call first. All other fields are blocked.
Maybe you need to Shift-TAB ; this depends on your browser.
The call's are underlined. This means you can click on them. Doing this will get you to http://www.qrz.com were a search on that call will be done ( if known by qrz.com)]
For now, just type in the call and TAB away.
If this is your first qso, you will see something as described in Main Menu .
In order to show you what you get if your DB is a little bit populated, let's assume I would log ON7VQ. I would see the picture below :

The fact that some items are underlined (Call,CQ,ITU,LOC) will be discused below ( More possibilities ).
Wow ! What's this all about ? Well, let's just cut this in smaller peaces.
What you see differs from this picture ? Yes, of course ! You are just starting and so it's very unlikely that you logged on7vq before.
So the top of the picture is missing. This part only appears if you worked (and logged!) that station , with that specific call, before.
But if all is installed in a proper way, you will bee seeing the ADIF/DXCC info. This must be the case or there is something wrong/missing.
The same can be said for "WB4's for BELGIUM". If you worked Belgium, you get a green field, with a W in it. If not : a yellow field with a "-" in it. If Belgium is confirmd, you see a red "C".
As you just start with using LiHaLo, most fields will be yellow.
If you worked that station before, you will see the qso's with that station above the dxcc-info.
If you previously filled-in the name, qth, etc, you 'll see that info.
Perhaps now you are in a hurry to continue and to add RST etc to the qso.
Just press ENTER (the "PROCEED" is focused).
If not : click "PROCEED" one time.
Now fill in all the values. At the end : press : "SAVE". Now the DATE and TIME are added.
In the picture above, you see that CALL, CQ, ITU and LOC in the ADIF/DXCC info are underlined. This means : it is a "link". Pressing the call-link will bring you to qrz.com and a search on that call will be done. In a new window you'l get information about that station (assuming that station/call is known by qrz.com.).
Pressing CQ, ITU or LOC will give you a Map of the resp. thing you asked for.
Remark. The maps here are not made by us. We don't have copyright on them .
It is JF9EXF who puts those wonderfull maps on the net. We just link to his site. All credits for putting these very nice maps on the internet go to jf9exf.
If you continued the logging process by clicking "PROCEED" (or "ENTER"), there is no problem with going to the maps in a later stadium of the logging.
Also during an ongoing qso, you can go to these maps or look-up a call. Just click on the header.
The link on DXCC brings you to the info-page where you can find more maps etc.
Little problem here
Well, yes : there is a problem. Let's say you work someone from USA. Please : try it.
Let's suppose we log AA1AA.
Maybe you notice the problem : America is big ! It is bigger then one CQ-Zone.
The same problem will be seen if you log BY7AA. China is also not a very small entity .... .
It must be obvious that in those cases, you can not click in the header. In this case, you ll need to go to the "INFO" pages.
Scroll down to the point where you can see the "CQ-MAP, ITU-MAPS , .... ". Here fill in the number of the CQ- or ITU-zone.
During an ongoing qso, if you worked the station before, you can follow the link on the "CALL-HEADER" CALL in log. This will give you again all qso's you had with that station before (in a new window). This is the same as choosing "SEARCH" and selecting "CALL" (see later).
If you log a station for the second (or more) time and you clicked PROCEED , the name, qth, locator are copied from the last qso with that station. You see a summary at the bottom of the page. Clicking it's QSO_ID will bring you to the EDIT_PAGE . After you logged a qso, you can still change, add things to a qso. The working of EDIT_QSO is clear I guess.
In the ADLIB-field you can place whatever you don't find a place for in the other fields.
Ahu ? Well : Yes.
I think it is impossible to foresee what the user wants. Some may be interested in German DOC'S, others in Russian OBLASTS.
I provided a field for Name, QTH, IOTA, CQ, STATE, .... , but i can not foresee everyones choices and preferences. So I added an ADLIB-field (Ad Libidum).
Whenever I log a member of the local club (Radio Club Leuven ; RCL) for the first time, I fill in 'RCL' in the ADLIB-field.
If you want to keep track of the DL-DOC's, fill in DOC/ . If you want to keep track off OBLAST : >>> add OBL/ to adlib.
To mention that a OM is member off BAFARA : ADD BAF/. Whatever you imagine is ok.
Via the SEARCH you can recover what you filled in.
I hope you understand there is a difference between Remarks and ADLIB. The ADLIB-field is provided in the stats-page, the Remarks not.
Maybe you understand this better after reading the Doing a search pages.
