Portable

The portable configurations that I use are different following the type of operation.

The basis for the portable operation is my FT-897.

The very light one consist of the FT-897 associated with my vertical short light-weight antenna (80—10mand operating with my homebrew internal battery. My power is then limited to 20W and I can operate about 3 to 4 hours.

For more power, I use an external 12V 7A gel battery at about 50W SSB.

The following configuration is the FT897 but with a very light dipole for 20m by a self-supported fishing pole of 5m. The set-up time is lower than 10 minutes to be operational on 20m in full autonomy.

For more effectiveness and more reliable operation, I use the same rig but with an FD-4 antenna from 40 to 10m normally powered by a light weight power-supply giving 25A. This configuration is used when the operation is foreseen for a longer period.

All those different configurations are packed in a back-pack. The weight of it is lower than 10kg all-in and can be immediately used.

Mobile

As I’m not really use often the car, I don’t installed permanently a RIG in it and I used my FT-897 as well for mobile operation.

The antennas are permanently installed on the car.

For VHF/UHF, I work with an wel known NH-770.

The HF antenna mounted on the roof is a DX-UHV from D-original.

I work on 40 and 20m with this antenna.

I will probably update later to an ATAS120.

This configuration powered by the battery of the vehicle provide the full output power of the FT897 (about 80W on all bands)

Pictures will come later hi hi
