- 4 cups water
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 5 cardamom pods, crushed
- 5 whole cloves
- 1 orange peel, dried, or 3 Tbsps. dried minced orange peel
- 1 1/2 cups raisins
- 4 cups port wine
- 1 cup brandy or rum
- Combine all ingredients except wine and rum in large pot, heat to boiling.
- Reduce heat to simmer, cook 2 hours.
- Let stand at least 8 hours.
- Strain mixture, add wine and brandy.
