Maple Syrup Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 c Maple syrup
- 1 c Ketchup
- 1 c Onion- finely chopped
- 1/4 c Firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 c Apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 c Lemon juice
- 1/4 c Water
- 2 tb Olive oil
- 2 tb Worcestershire sauce
- 2 ts Garlic- finely chopped
- 2 ts Lemon rind- grated
- 1 ts Salt
- 1/4 ts Hot sauce
Preparation:
- Combine all ingredients in a saucepan.
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes.
- Cool.
- Pour mixture into container of a blender, process until smooth.
- Remove 1 cup sauce, and brush over [the article is about chicken] the last 30 minutes of cooking time.
- Serve chicken with remaining sauce.
- Refrigerate sauce up to 1 month.
- Yield: 3-1/2 cups
