THE1952 RENAULT GOELETTE
What led the creation of R2087? The Files RTA, Out of the ordinary "Load-Useful" the N°15 as of other sources make it possible to trace the course which ended in R2087. The names of the vehicles which preceded R2087 begin with the letter "R", as of the creation of the National Control of the Renault Factories to leaving the second war. Figures follow, of which 1st indicates the type of machine (2 for utility gasoline), the second and the third the series and the last the model in the series. The
very first model preceding these superb machines, date of 1945: The first built specimens were delivered to the army, hospital... which required vans and medical vehicles reliable and not balking with possible overloads. The authorized weight being of 1000Kgs, it is this nickname which was given to the machine. The Renault factories used the van for the medical interventions...
One
distinguishes the arrows from direction to the back of the doors, the
sides and the roof entirely smooth of the first models. In 1950 also is born R2062, which is a van having a payload of 1400Kgs. One sees here the van of assistance for Tracteurs Renault in Yugoslavia and below the medical vans equivalent to our red cross in departure for the Middle East (Growing Red). To be able to move in all peace in all ways, the frame of the 1000Kgs R2060 is sent for transformation at Herwaythorn during 1950. The made modifications relate to the axle before which is replaced by a driving and directing bridge, a box of transfer makes it possible to pass at will from 2x4 in 4x4, the frame is elevated by means of holds, space between the wheels and the wings having to be preserved, the hole due to the heightening is filled by sheets fixed using butterflies. To finish, a metal ski is fixed under the engine, to protect the casing in the case of crossings.
In 1952, new designations: R2065 (1000Kgs) and R2066 (1400Kgs) make their appearance. Their new engine (1996cm3 49ch with 3000tr/mn) justifies it, which makes these machines a true commercial success, because they will be produced with more than 70000 specimens until 1966! R2086, is to him a van which will have the engine "standard" 671-2 of 214çm3 (12cv tax, 64ch with 3300tr/mn). The combination of both (4x4 Part of R2067 & R2069, and left driving R2086) will give rise to R2087!
" In 1956 enter thus in service of medical road the R 2065 (1000kg of payload) indirectly deriving from the van 206E (five casualties lying), followed little after into 1957 of the all-way R 2067 and R 2087 (800 kg then 1030 kg of payload for the model improved R 2087 N) which derive from the road version. The production of the medical R 2087 and R 2087 N stops in 1964 (the park is then approximately 1900 Renault 4x4), which then leads the Staff of the Army to engage a reflexion on a future medical vehicle. The medical R 2087 transform in 4x4 by Sinpar has a standard engine four cylinders 671 of 2241 Cm3 (88 X 88 alésage/course), traditional and tested, preserved on version SG2 4x4 but to the latter, the power is related to 65 horses with 3200 tr/minutes. (NB: the SG2 4x4 is the prototype tested between 66 and 69 and whose final name will be TP3 L 39; the cubic capacity differs from 100 Cm3 what your technical data indicate for the 2087; in the same way, in a comparative table, the coasts indicated are of (HT) 4,61 X 1,93 X 2,58m; on the TP3, it in fact one is 2600 Cm3 of 78 CH which will be adopted at its exit into 1970). - the medical R 2087 and R 2087 N transport 4 casualties lying; the last specimens are reformed at the beginning of the years 1990. (the TP 3 allows the transport of 6 casualties lying + two sitted). "
