| Malacaņang maintains: No constitutional crisis |
Malacaņang on Wednesday maintained that there is no constitutional crisis in the country even as Congress and the Supreme Court face an impasse on whether to proceed with the impeachment case filed against Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr.
Presidential Ignacio Bunye said the country is not experiencing a constitutional crisis even as Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered Congress to halt impeachment proceedings against Davide, who was accused of mismanaging the Judicial Development Fund.
Bunye, however, said the situation is open to further legal debates about the equal powers of the two branches of government in stalemate.
The House of Representatives on Tuesday vowed to transmit the
articles of impeachment to Senate when it convenes on November 10.
