By Dino Balabo, Central Luzon Bureau
HAGONOY, Bulacan—Three members of the
Hagonoy Maritime Police Station were killed in an early Halloween raid by
suspected communist rebels wearing blue police camouflage uniform on Thursday
night.
Chief Inspector Roderick Minong, Hagonoy
chief of police, identified the fatalities as Police Officer 1 Teodorico Collado,
Police Officer 3 Leonardo Paulino and Senior Police Officer 1 Roberto Dinlasan;
while Police Officer 3 Dominador Perlas was wounded in the shoulder and was
rushed to nearby Emilio G. Perez Memorial District Hospital but was later
transferred to the Orthopedic Hospital in Manila.
Initial investigation showed that all the
victims were inside the Maritime Station located at the riverside of Poblacion
when seven suspected New People’s Army (NPA) guerrillas came aboard a
Mitsubishi Adventure van with license plate WLH 161 and started spraying bullets
on the police officers. The rebels also carted away seven M-16 rifles before
making their escape aboard a motorized boat heading westbound to the Manila Bay.
Perlas, the lone survivor in the attack told investigators that four of the attackers came down from the van wearing blue camouflage uniform just like police officers. Perlas said he was able to shot one of the attackers on the knee.
