Before I had decided to go to Armenia, I did not know a lot about this country in the Caucasus. At school I had studied the 1915 genocide by the Turks but I did not know that this country had such a rich cultural heritage. Armenia is one of the smallest republics of the former Soviet-Union and probably that's the reason why it is so unknown. Although Armenia features impressive mountains and beautifully located monasteries and churches, there is almost no tourism in this country. Our project was situated in a suburb of Yerevan. We carried out ecological work like cleaning gardens in the Olympos school in the Old Nork district of Yerevan.
The Olympos educational center is situated in the Old Nork district of Yerevan, about 15 minutes from the city center. The school was built in the fifties and was one of the best schools in Armenia. Volunteers will carry out ecological work; cleaning fruit gardens, painting benches and cleaning a small lake in the gardens of the Olympos School.
