Organizing
the data through Groups and
Bands
In Quartam Reports for
Revolution, the
items on your layouts are organised into
bands. In every report there is a
detail band, as well as optional
header and footer bands.
In your detail band, you provide
a placeholder for every individual item
that you want to print : the placeholder
identifies the item and its properties,
including its exact position within the
band. If you're printing a stack, each
printed detail band corresponds to a card.
If you're printing a database cursor or
autmated query, each printed detail band
corresponds to one record in the result
set.
The optional header and
footer bands are placed on every
page of the report. This makes it easy to
place certain items on every page : the
company logo ; the title, date and time of
the report ; page totals ; etc
Many reports are based on data that is
sorted into groups : the deals made by a
single sales representative ; the articles
sold to a single customer over a period of
time ; the measurements from an Antarctic
research station ; etc.
We help you organise this data into
nested groups. Each group can have its own
header and footer bands, so
you can easily keep track of sales totals,
average temperatures and other aggregate
data. And all you need to know is a little
Transcript, as the data is grouped on the
basis of everyday Transcript
expressions.
