People around the world are fascinated by magic. Why is that? Because they can't figure out how it happened. It looks great when you transform a small burning torch into a rose on stage,
it appears to be real magic when you transform a random card into the card the spectator selected under their very noses.
I can do those things, and people like it when I do that. Very few people are annoyed by it. those are the people who want a reasonable explanation behind everything,
and they can't find one for what I did. Should they find out how I did it: they would be even more annoyed because it isn't as difficult as they thought. Then they feel embarassed because they didn't think of it.
But as I said: that doesn't happen a lot. I was lucky so far to entertain my favorite kind of people: the people who are amazed by what I do, have a good time and maybe have sleepless nights because of what I did.
Imagine the naughty grin on my face as people told me they were trying to figure it out. How in the world did I make that cane fly around?
I'm not gonna tell of course. Basic rules of the magician:
- Never reveal your secrets
- Don't repeat your tricks for the same audience
- Make sure you know your tricks before you perform them
- Make sure you have a good presentation
- Do not act superiour. You are there to entertain the spectators. NOT the other way around
That last one is my rule. Far too many magicians forget that rule. They think they're oh- so- cool because they can do something you can't.
Which is not fun, right? All the other rules are "official" ones.
Why we don't reveal our secrets is obvious I think. What fun would it be to watch a magician do all those neat things when you know how it works?
People like to be amazed, believe me.
Don't repeat your tricks? Why not? If the spectator liked a trick, why wouldn't you do it again and amaze him a second time?
Very simple reason: the second time they watch what you do. They don't look at the effect anymore, they look at your hands. You might as well just tell them how you did it.
Make sure you know your tricks: same reason. If you don't know your trick good enough to fool yourself then you might get clumsy and ruin the effect.
And about the presentation: you can have the most stupid trick in known history transform into a miracle, just by making a good presentation of it. Humoristic, mysterious, that depends. It works the other way around too, though... The best trick can be boring without a good presentation.
So much for the "boring" part! Some pics of my magic tricks are on the pics page if you would like to see.
But this page is here to teach you some magic tricks!
Do note that I am NOT a "masked magician". I think he's a jerk. Magicians spent many hours thinking of good tricks and he just gets on tv and tells everyone how they do it...
He should be banned from modern society forever.
What I will teach you here are very simple tricks you can show your friends when you're having a drink together (for example). I will not teach you any sleight of hand, or techniques to use in other tricks.
The tricks here are self- working thingies to amuse yourself and others. Once every month or so, I will put another one here, so come back to learn a new trick!
Should you be interested in learning more magic tricks I can recommend a good site. These people sell magic tricks internationally, complete instructions with their tricks. Visit Mephisto magic shop!
