BIO

Guitarist-singer songwriter P. Van Sant is an outsider, doesn’t beat around the bush and is back in business. Van Sant a.k.a. Sante has had the blues since he was 15 and for several years he performed in local clubs and bars. For more than a decade he was a member of "The Boxcars" his first Band, wich he formed together with Monsieur Pol and Luk De Graaff at age 16, later completed with rock and roll drummer Jokke Kerkhofs, and one of Belgium’s most popular blues acts in the eighties.

After playing in a number of bar bands for almost 20 years he made his solo debut in 1996 with "This Hounddog’s still howlin’",released by Arthur Praet (Dureco), who gave P. Van Sant the stimulation to give himself an acoustic performer profile,and signed him on his second label Toe Records,a record label with only singer-songwriters,among them Wouter Planteijdt. In 1998 he released his second solo-album "Me and the Guitarman", (recorded in Amsterdam with Planteijdt, a musical partner in crime now,as producer), which had a direct, stripped-down rootsy sound. Sante’s warm weathered dusty-sweet voice has a somewhat road-weary edge to it but it’s pure and expressive. Sante was inspired by blues artists like Leadbelly, Mississippi Fred Mc Dowell and Townes Van Zandt. The music of these artists echoes strongly throughout his work. He has a way of making painfully honest lyrics stick to naturally straight forward melodies, touching any kindhearted listener.

Sante is a great live performer, a poet with a burning soul. Playing and singing he drags his audience into his world of music. Grinding guitars, sheer listening pleasure, songs that melt in your ears and a voice that blends John Hiatt with Johnny Cash and a young Tony Joe White. In Times of hi-tech, there are still some people that understand the art of achieving great things with little means.For" I’m a Believer "(2004)P.Van Sant teamed up with David Vertongen, Jasper Hautekiet, Andries Boone from The Ballroomquartet, produced by Sante and David "Doeffe" Vertongen. And so they developed a headstrong mix of Blues, Folk and World music, state of the art singer songwriting, unique and original. "I’m a believer" is P. Van Sant "pur sang", an honest and authentic roots-CD, Made in Belgium.

In 2007 P.Van Sant recovered from 30 years of Rock & Roll life style and started writing new songs after a struggle with writers bloc . In 2008 P.Van Sant is playing live as P. Van Sant and Bandwith longtime guitar soulmate Dirk Lekenne aka "The Colonel", Jo Vandenhouten on Bass and Danny Hoedemaekers on Drums. 2008 IS GONNA BE A GOOD YEAR FOR THE ROSES ....... In Autumn, PMP is gonna release the new "P.VAN SANT" CD on their 'BLUE GEMS' label, recordings this summer... ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH...
