Complete overhaul started
I've wanted to use CSS for quite some time now. Using CSS helps me get rid of tables, tables that I use for layout. I know try to use generic block-level elements, like DIV.
Still, I cannot get rid of ALL tables yet - this is a work in progress...
I overhauled my template for starters. You will notice that each "header" image is a bit smaller now. I reduced the height to 100 pixels. This gives me more screen real estate to play with.
I also added four colour swatches on top of the menu. These swatches allow you to pick another colour-scheme for the site. If you don't like the bright green colour, you can switch to a black and white version of the site, or a red version. The blue version is still in the making. I can easlily manage this by using a piece of javascript: the script will dynamically apply another style sheet when you click on one of the swatches. (Source: A List Apart)
Next thing to do is change all existing pages so they fit within the template. Easy enough, though it will take some time. I will also re-load pages from my old site. Links to these pages have been present in the menu, but the pages themselves have never been uploaded. I'll fix this.
All news and site updates will only be accessible through this blog. For starters, only site updates will be mentioned here. I'll create a second blog for S:AAB related news.
What else ? Lots of things... For the time being, I'll upload page by page as they are adapted to the use of my new template and style sheets.

Site maintenance
- Rebuilt the Contact page (with new ICQ number)
- Changed the menu on the left: uses one small graphic (square). The graphics with text have been removed and replaced by actual text and a background image. This makes menu-maintenance easier.
- Because of problems with the menu inline frame, I removed that frame. Each page will now render the menu explicitely, although this means I'll have to doublecheck each page again when I want to add a menu-item.
- D'oh!! I'd better move to PHP quickly!
- There is a second style sheet available: a simple Black 'n White combination, instead of various greens. Intended for those who have difficulty reading the limey coloured text. You can switch easily between style sheets with browsers like e.g. Mozilla Firebird, but check your browser's documentation if you are using another one. For ease of use, I've include two links on the home page (look at the top right corner where it says "Site colors")

The site has been quiet for a really long time now. The problem is, maintaining this site is just so labour-intensive! There must be easier and more efficient ways. And there are, actually. I've started teachng myself PHP. Now that should help. However, in the meanwhile, I've started fixing some broken links.

Rebuilding parts of the site
- adjusted the dimensions of the inline framed menu. You shouldn't see any scrollbars around the menu.
- adapted some pages to make use of this new menu and discarded the old one.
- Updated the pages "Vehicules and Vessels", "Carriers", "USS Saratoga" and "SA-43 Hammerhead": gave them a consistent look. I also did a little bit of redesign on those pages.
- Added the new version of the Weapons and Equipment pages. No new content there, just adjusted the look.
- added some extra images of the M-70 (source: eBay)
- Decided to stop putting that much effort into manual updates. A blog will replace this page in the near future. PHP should provide an answer to my automation needs!

Change of menu
Structural updates, a.o. an iframed menu. This menu, which sits in an iframe or inline frame, makes it possible to change the menu once and have these changes reflected on all pages without having to change each and every page by hand.
Kewlness!
Kewlness!
Okay, as I'm updating the site, I might as well try and REALLY use this damn blogger ;)

Site moved!
Moved the site to my current ISP Telenet.
It's easier to maintain this way. And there be no annoying ads nor pop-up thingies either !

Sit is up and running !
The first version of this site went live on Geocities, a loooong time ago, way back in 1996.
It had some intel, but wasn't much to look at.
Never mind the posting date on this topic. Blogger allows me to change the date, but I can only go back as far as 1999.
