1925 : the CV-3 became the united states' first aircraft carrier
1927 : USS Saratoga CV-3 is first commissioned
1941 : CV-3 heads for the Pacific Ops theatre
After WWII : CV-3 was sunk at "Bikini Lagoon" during the Operation Crossroads atomic bomb testing in 1946.

1955, Oct : USS Saratoga is anew launched!
1956 : commissioned
1958 : Mediterranean - Jordanian crisis
1962 : patrolling the waters off Guantanamo bay during the Cuban missile crisis
1967 : the famous Six Day war : stationed off the coast of Lebanon
1970 : returned to the coast of Lebanon. president Nixon was aboard when word came of the death of Gamal Abdul Nasser
1972, Apr : she takes part in the Vietnam War cruise
1972, Jul : designated CV-60 : the USS Saratoga is now an all-purpose carrier, she is the first to be named so!
1985 : the Saratoga played a role in the rescue of the hijacked luxury liner Achille Lauro, and F-14 tomcats from Sara's Air Wing forced down the aircraft on which the hijackers were escaping.
1990, Aug : Red Sea - in support of operation Desert Shield
1991, Jan : strike ops - operation Desert Storm
1994, Aug : - on her final deployment, Saratoga aircraft flew thousands of sorties in the Adriatic in support of US and NATO operations in Bosnia.
