General Information
Carriers

.: What are carriers ? :.

Carriers are truly big vessels. Their purpose is indeed to carry complete wings of additional aircraft or spacecraft into the Operations Theatre/Zone. Carriers can provide additional fighters and bombers, all of which are stored inside the carrier.
Carriers can also provide fire support by means of their on-board cannons and missile launchers. But at the same time, the carrier will use it's own weaponry and on-board fighters to provide in it's own safety. If a carrier is attacked, it has no other means of defending itself than it's own cannons, missile-launchers and wings of fighters.

.: Types of carriers :.

Depending on whether a carrier has lots of weaponry and fighters or not, we distinguish between heavy and light carriers. According to their possible role, we see attack carriers, bomber carriers, ...etc. Also, carriers can be classified according to their type of propulsion (and hence speed and range): carriers can have conventional or nuclear drives.

.: Primary roles :.

  • To gain and maintain space control
  • Forward Presence: having carriers moved up further away from own boundaries allows for continuous monitoring and rapid reaction if and when neccesary
  • Space Combat Support
  • Space Gunfire Support

Fighters

.: What are fighters ? :.

Fighters are air/space-craft equipped with jet engines, hight-tech equipment for navigation and weapons guidance, missiles, rockets, guns. Fighters are used for a number of purposes (see below). Without fighters, ground forces might have a hard time winning the battle!

.: Types of fighters :.

Some fighters are specialised, others are mutli-role.

.: Primary assignments/roles :.

  • Defend and Secure designated sectors in Space
  • Air Superiority - enable and facilitate ground Ops
  • Anti Surface Forces Air Operations (ASFAO)
  • Close Air Support (CAS)
  • Interdiction (Air Interdiction (AI), Battlefield Air Interdiction (BAI), interdiction of LOC)
  • Fleet Air Defence
  • Reconnaissance

Transports

.: What are transports ? :.

Transports are meant to do just that: transport personnel and/er equipment from one place to another. Transports are usually weakly equipped with some weaponry, mostly guns. On the other hand, they do have a large amount of cargo space. Transporters will allways require an escort of fighters for their own protection.

.: Types of transports :.

Transport can be on-planet only or both on/off planet. Transport range varies greatly from orbital transport to interstellar or inter solar system transport.

.: Primary roles :.

  • Transport of personnel
  • Transport of equipment

  • ISSCV/ISSAPC
  • SSRT
  • LC-19
