| M-590 | ||||
The M-590 Assault Rifle is the standard issue firearm of every Marine. It is a projectile weapon which comes in multiple versions. The earliest version had a 5.56mm caliber, which had become the caliber of choice in the late 20th - early 21st century. Smaller calibers would usually wound the enemy instead of killing him and would therefore take out 1 to 2 extra men, who would have to take care of the wounded. As a result of the AI-wars, the 7.62mm caliber was re-introduced, having a higher damage and penetration value (indeed something you would look for when fighting silicates). No hollow balls or dum-dum ammo are used, although it has been said that caseless ammunition is available. I have put up some extra info on caseless ammunition here and still have a small case study on the matter, written by a Canadian silicate. (*grin*)
The M-590 can be adapted to use a classic grenade launcher and it can also be modified for use with an APFSDS-type ammuniction launcher, although this modification is still under development. The M-590 is known to be used regularily with a mounted scanner or MT), enabling movement detection and thermal vision.

The M70 pistol is used:
The M-70 uses a 9mm ball. There is no alternative ammo, and modified ammunition cannot be used. The M-70 is equipped with a top-mounted visor which allows precision targeting. The accurate range of the M-70 is up to 75 m. Following images show an M-70 kit, put up for sale on eBay.

| Taser pistol | ||||
Used to stun people, this pistol is primarily used by security agents, policemen, MP, RP, etc... This pistol fires a projectile which partially penetrates the target. The projectile is wired to the pistol itself. The pistol has a small coil on which the wire is wound. The wire serves as a conductor for a high-voltage pulse. This high-voltage pulse will then effectively stun the target. |
