- organising some Camellia-excursions.

New Plantings

Why are there so few camellia-gardens over here? Something has to be done about that!
Yes, we have the gardens that are mentioned on the page 'Our Region', but since then, there are also several new plantings that have been started in The Netherlands and Belgium, at

- Boskoop: where our member/nurseryman Van der Voort has started an interesting Camellia garden:
Sjaak van der Voort, Rijneveld 114, Boskoop, The Netherlands

- Groenenberg: where the Flemish authorities are planting a National Camellia Collection:
Domein Groenenberg,
Kasteelstraat, Gaasbeek-Lennik 1750, Belgium

- Laken: where, under impulse from our society,  a camellia planting was started on 16.06.2005 by Her Majesty, Queen Paola:
de 'Tuinen van de Bloemist' - 'Jardins du Fleuriste',
J. Sobieskilaan / Avenue J. Sobieski, 1020 Laken / Laeken, Belgium
Here are a few pictures, taken on 16.06.2005:

Camellia-Excursions

Our 2004 trip to Brittany (France): march 6th - march 9th.

For those 36 members who were there,  it will not be easy to forget this splendid journey. With Mrs. Jeannette Bleaney as our guide (camellia expert from Brittany, member of our ICS Benelux) we did visit a number of private and public gardens (including two botanical ones), nurseries, parks, and a local Camellia exhibition. And then, there was the beautiful countryside, the friendly people, the perfect cuisine... There is only one thing to be said: "we must do this again".
