Some of my main interests are: gardening, botany, astronomy, science fiction, detective stories, rock and roll, folk music, chess, the collection of art objects (ducks - a passion that I got from my wife), ecology, palaeontology, travel, old books, the Internet, vintage Flemish beer, and vintage Irish whisky.

So, for a start, for my site I had to make a choice out of these subjects - and my first choice has been:
