History
The first RE
It all began with Den Boom In and Marduk God. Originally moderators of a Dutch community called RSR, they wanted something beyond just a community and wanted to be the leaders of a more exclusive group of people. And so, somewhere in the fall of 2004, RuneScape Elites (as the clan was going to be called, they decided to keep it simple) came into existance. After having created a forum on an invision power board, Rezer88 was made co-leader and the clan was made public.
Most people who joined at that time were friends of the leaders and/or members of RSR (including Chopsbbq, who first made his appearance as a guest on RE pk-trips), which added to the familiar and friendly atmosphere. The reqs weren't that high at the time; the leaders were all between 90 and 105 cb (most members were lower). For a time all went well, but after a while things started to go downhill. The plan was conceived for RE to be merged with RSR (which was in need of an elite pk'ing squad at that time). RSR offered RE their very own subforum within the community (with event thumbs to check the activity of every member), which also guaranteed a stable inflow of new members. RE was renamed "Revolution Elites", and Chopsbbq joined RE. He would soon be made p2p leader.
The second RE
RE started to get back on its feet again and allied with EP to have better pk trips. After a while, EP disbanned and some EP joined RE. Not long after, however; the leaders of RE started to realise the only new members who were joining did so through RSR (which made RE dependant on RSR), which wasn't the idea behind it all. And so, on the 5th of Januari 2005 RE declared independance from RSR, moved its boards to s3.invisionfree and renamed itself to RuneScape Elites once more. Den Boom In became the head leader and Chopsbbq, Marduk God and Rezer88 were made leader. Maggot666_S (a good friend of the leaders) joined RE and helped us alot. Chopsbbq invited some friends (amongst which Potterina, combat 114 (which was quite high back then) and very active). Soon, Potterina was made sub-leader.
Meanwhile Killerbart, one of the leaders of RSR, was angry that we had dared to declare our independance and had moved our boards away from RSR (he saw it as being ungrateful for what he had done for us) and said the name 'RE' belonged to RSR. He said he would never change RSR's pk group and that our RE would die soon anyway. Den Boom In was being demoted from RSR for protesting against one of the leaders' decisions. Alot of RE believed that to be a rather lame move and started feeling more and more negative towards RSR. More and more people (amongst which high-ranking RSR members such as Chopsbbq and Marduk God) left RSR during the coming month. During that time our core became stronger and stronger, and our time at RSR was soon forgotten.
We initiated a "best member of the month" rank and became more active every day. This was also the beginning of the RuneScape2 pk'ing era, where the clan-system would be going through alot of changes. There were alot more teams pk'ing in the wilderness, namecalling was unheard of in non-top 10 clans, threehugging was unknown. Deathmarches were a legendary thing done by DI alone. During many of our trips we killed DoZ, but after a while that got boring.
Later on, we lost many good members to TRWF (such as Ranger Ppx, Belgiumcrock, Maggot666_S). However, the reduced amount of members had no great effect on the relative succes of our pk trips, since there were alot of smaller teams out anyway.
During one of those pk trips, we knew Exercitum and their alliance (commonly known as the Golden Alliance [which is how they called themselves] or the Greenhide Alliance [which was how their enemies called them]) was out, and RE decided to bring the fight to them with a single goal: killing Supa Vegeta (the leader of Exercitum). Every member that did not want to participate in this suicide mission was allowed to go back and bank without repercussions, but no-one did so. Everyone stayed to help out, and we succeeded.
After a while, Den Boom In realised RE would most likely never be a top-10 clan and left for TRWF, only to come back a day later because he missed RE. Sadly, this comeback wasn't too last as Den Boom In left for Exercitum later and Chopsbbq was made head leader.
We had at least 3 pk trips per week, with one of them being p2p. However, a new JaGeX update (a new dungeon in Karamja and several other NPC updates) had sad consequences: there were rarely any teams out in the wilderness, which meant there was little action for us (by killing them). Our p2p activity stopped after a while because of this inactivity.
It was around this time Den Boom In came back again, and we decided to all be made leader again (without one head leader). Marduk God was having real-life problems and became more and more inactive. Soon we would also have our very first and loyal English member, Adam000. He appeared to be quite a good staker and regularly showed off his loot. It seemed we would soon have a new pk-leader.
Soon after, we had RSX declaring war on us. We were understandably excited about our first war, so we put alot of effort in preparing everything. However, three weeks later, (the last day before the war), RSX cancelled all of a sudden because their leader wanted to go out the next day (when the war was to be hosted). RE was understandably angry and very disappointed in RSX cancelling a war they themselves had initiated, and by doing so with a rather lame excuse like that. We asked why they didn't let one of their other leaders lead but in the end there was no war... (The RE-leaders had a hunch that RSX cancelled because we were doing slightly better than them at the time).
Several weeks later, when RSX was doing better again, they declared on us again, the second week of the Easter-holidays, when Den Boom In, Chopsbbq, and alot of RE members would be on holiday. We understandably declined the war and they started flaming us, saying that we were scared. We offered for another date, but RSX had no intention to negotiate and soon our public forum would be filled up with spam topics by rsx.
Alot of people in RE were quite shocked to see how far people would take things on the internet, and half of them quit rs. Pk trips became inactive and we could not find worthy opponents, which in turn added to the despair. Desperate, the leaders called out a latest pk trip, for wich we needed more than 60 options or RE would be closed. That day we had about ~80 options. However RE was closed anyway by a unanimous vote from the leaders. The leaders couldn't possibly ask for such an amount every pk trip, so RE closed.
The end of an era
Some members went to TRWF, Dark Lorrie (our best pker) went to TMRD and became pk leader there, and some people remained clanless or quit rs. The former leaders of RE gathered do discuss what clan they were going to join. Den Boom In wanted to return to his ex clans (Exer/TRWF), Marduk God was still inactive, Potterina just wanted some fun, Chopsbbq wanted to go DI and Rezer88 proposed us to join RR.
We had been fighting RR previously, and they were quite strong. At that moment they were a top-10 clan. And so we all joined RR. Alot of former RE members followed our lead, and joined RR as well. However, many of them didn't like the atmosphere and left again. Soon, there were only a handfull of ex-RE left in RR. Rezer became RR council, Marduk God was ever so inactive.
Risen from the ashes: the third RE
After a while, Den Boom In started missing the leading and decided to restart RE once more. However, he was the only leader who could be active. After all, Rezer88 was still a council-member of RR, Chopsbbq and Potterina were in another clan and Marduk God was way too inactive to be of much help - if any - at all. Despite this, RE had a good start again and alot of loyal people came back. It was at this time that Black Sabat joined us and was quite active. RE had some pk run-ins with other clans, but no more teams killing. The pk'ing in smaller groups seemed to have vanished.
Slightly later, Exercitum disbanded and some people came to RE. Nbongo, Pure Progek, Pure Kwak and Thadanger became mods to control the clan. Marduk God became a retired leader to help the leaders out a bit with managing the forum, without actually becoming a full RE-member (seeing he was stil in RR).
Some members came up with the idea of making squads like RR had. The squad system had a short time of success, with some minifights with eachother. When a squad leader was killed by his squad for fun he got so angry that he, even after a formal apology by the culprits, left RE. After a while it ruined the atmosphere.
Exercitum reopened, and made RE lose some members.
Around this time Chopsbbq and Potterina came back and were granted the rank of pk-leader immediately. Chopsbbq arranged a war vs the RR squads wich would be a very big opportunity to prove us to the clan community. RR was still top 10 and the squads we would be warring consisted out of 60 of their best members. RE pulled 102 options to this war, an amount we had never reached before. The war was way too easy, we outnumbered them too hard and probably no member of RE even died... (it is debatable if many RR knew about the war at all, which would explain their low options). ChopsBBQ became inactive after this because of irl stuff and a holiday during which he wouldn't have time for rs.
Den Boom In got sick of leading and wanted to join to a strong clan, while he would be made 'clan founder' (an honorary rank). Minimax315, Pure Kwak and Thadanger became the new leaders and did their best to help the clan. Marduk God finally quit RS in July of 2005.
STH, a strong Lithuanian clan, declared war on us and it seemed impossible to win this one. Nonetheless we accepted, always in for a bit of a risk and ofcourse action We lost the war, we lost it very hard. With the ongoing debate whether or not sth cheated we got weaker, and then Den Boom In came back. Soon he had to punish an irl friend for flaming on rs, and they got into a fight. Den Boom In realised this was going to far, his rl should come first and not rs.
RE was closed a second time (which marked the end of the third RE), probably forever. Closing it a second time was no easy decision, as it ment doing something wich would probably wanting us to never remake re again. This time, all members went to several different clans, TRWF, Exer, RR, Td. Most people went to Exercitum, but could not find the right atmosphere there and were about to leave if the leaders did not became more strict.
United In Combat
At this time Chopsbbq had already returned to RS, but had been in Td until it died. He joined Exercitum and expected to be in a good atmosphere with all the ex-RE being there. However it was not like he had expected. Potterina came back to Pk'ing and made a clan together with Krosan4eva (ex-RR) and Burxman (a friend of Krosan). Chopsbbq made a topic on Exer that he would leave Exer to help Potterina out with his new clan. He did not give out any links to this new clan, called UIC, to avoid problems with Exercitum. However alot of people (from Exer and other clans) found out anyway and went to UIC and expected a new return of RE.
Exercitum lost about 15 people, and alot of Exercitum quit too cause they expected Exercitum would start to go down. Supa Vegeta could not accept that one of the strongest clans around would be dieing just because UIC was made. He did not realise it wasn't because of UIC, but because of the massrecruiting that happened in Exer.
Stories about UIC being dirty scum were made and we were threatened to be crashed every single pk trip. After a while, Supa Vegeta realised his mistake and help to offered UIC when they had problems. UIC could ask for Exers help at any given time. We did some merged pk trips and had some action, but as UIC started to get individual again it had very bad pk trips.
This was a time the clan world was having alot of problems and everyone who could, joined a top 10 ranked clan. UIC found no worthy opponents, and died. Even though UIC was dead, Chopsbbq and Den Boom In wanted to recreate something. It was not the time however, because the clan world was going down the drain. This was after DI had officialy lost their war #1 rank.
With UIC being dead, some people formed a magebank-team called TeamSexy.
A new dawn: the fourth RE
Months later in the TeamSexy chat, Den Boom In and Chopsbbq made plans about remaking a clan that would never be closed. If there weren't not enough people for trips, we would go p2p mage bank and skill events, so it would always be active in at least one way or another. A second goal was that we wouldn't be based on pk trips only, everything was good as long as it meant action (and was honourable ofcourse). As soon as the opportunity came up, pk trips would be replaced by miniwars so we would always have action. Den Boom In deleted everything on the boards of the third RE, so we could start with a clean slate.
After a while, we saw no-one within TeamSexy would be interested, as they were in RSD. Parasite0000 and Joppie2004, however; were a bit sick with the boring top 10 and joined RE. But that was not enough at all. For a moment, we were thinking if we should wait until people were clanless etc.
This might sound weird, but really after a few mere seconds we saw an ex-RE posting on the forum and asking “RE is back? OMG im so glad ”. Beyond any reasonable doubt, RE would be remade soon. After a while, more and more people saw it and introduced to join. We had 41 members online at a given moment (which was a record).
We had made an opening date on April 1st, so we could make ranks, discuss our goals and clan system, make rules, initiate the application system… It was created much faster than anyone expected, and RE opened sooner than anticipated. In two weeks we had about 40 members, and were still growing.
To be able to have some sort of control over applications, we needed a single person who would be good in managing things and be active. Rattenhoofd was assigned for this and became Gatekeeper. When we attained alot of members, we closed the apps to strengthen the core of people we had, and see who would be willing to be in the making of a future new good clan.
Pure Kwak and Parasite0000 were assigned to manage the pk trips and became General.
To test our strength, we had a 48 hour preparation miniwar with TRD. We gathered about 138 options and we won easily. Pk trips went smoothly, we had 100+ options and mostly found a clan on first world hop.
However, when we had some members going inactive for irl problems and some quitting, even more quit because they were afraid of a clan that would have a down period (which meant they would lose pixels ).
Our council-member Bck007 got threatened to be demoted if he wouldn't listen (he wanted to help AOH in a fight). We did went to help them out eventually, but Bck couldn't accept being threatened like that. He became a normal member and told to some people he woud leave that very same week. The leaders decided to kick him to avoid the many problems of flaming because of what happened. It was a very hard decision to make, but after all RE had to live, which was also where Bck had been working for.
Unloyal people left, betrayed us by crashing us with their new clan that was having a good time. Minimax315, who had a big part in the RE history, became an advisor to help the leaders out.
Eventually the number of people leaving RE seemed to have come to a halt, and things went quietly. After that, parasite0000 left, and when we expected more members to leave, nothing happened. RE seemed to have built up the strong core we had been aiming for. After the first few squires coming in, trial members having been declined/given member rank, our applications opened again.
Event manager applications were opened and the leaders/advisors chose four able people: Black Sabat, Mido11, Earthmaikel and Tisiptgemak.
Regulary we had new members joining and people started to get more active again. RE showed that they were ready to to become a force to be reckoned with when they pulled 140 options against a clan war we had a very little hope of winning.
Soon after, Rattenhoofd left RE, and Kevinkecloet was made Gatekeeper instead. The leaders also recognised Tisiptgemaks leadership qualities and honoured those by elevating him to the rank of Council. Spetter3 and Potterina also joined RE again and were made general within a few weeks after their arrival (seeing they had been in RE before). This was also the time Marduk God came back to RS (after more than a year of absence), and after some initial struggles with getting his account back (which took almost two months) he joined RE again and was made Advisor soon after, because of his influencial part in the past of RE.
Near the end of the holidays, Kevinkecloet started getting more and more inactive, and Everwin666 was named Gatekeeper in his place. We also initiated the rank of "clan artist/court artisan", an office which was first held by Leon1988, who passed it to Sir Mvl after a few days. The first of September was also the day RE was revamped completely (new theme, new ranks, new forum skin,...). Around this time we also achieved a combat average of 110 (something which hadn't happened before in any of the old RE's). Pure Kwak was getting more and more inactive by this time, and he eventually demoted himself. And so Leeney and Tb Acno were made chancellors, not in the least because of their much valued insights. Mido11 and Earthmaikel resigned their offices as court marshals (event managers) for personal reasons, and Pallasknights organisatoric talent was recognised by making him Gatekeeper. Everwin666, Bolivius and Djsmurf8 were made court marshals.
The very first few days of octobre, Den Boom In announced his plans to semi-retire from RS, but stressed that he did not and would not want to leave RE. This was also the time we neared the grand total of 100 members. A less celebrated event was the demotion of Bolivius as a court marshal because of school. Still, the staff was aware of his capacities, and kept him as a possible highranker in the future, which later turned out to become the truth.
Nick Larking replaced him as a court marshal, to lead the knights of RE on the way to have fun.
Also, Tb Acno was assigned, thanks to his great work as a chancellor, as a High Chancellor of RE. This turned out to not be his upper limit, as he became a king of RE later on. But we’re not that far yet.
Winter didn’t just bring snow this year, but also some bad things. RE’s forces were worse than they were in fall, due to exams, and some other bad incidents like scamming and hacking occurred. This causes a little downfall, not in numbers but also in atmosphere. People were thinking of leaving, even though most stayed, we didn’t get through winter unharmed.
Minimax315, Leeney and Everwin666 asked for a demote, respectively as Chancellor, Chancellor and Court Marshal. Leeney eventually left the clan, to make a new clan alongside with some of RE’s members. Minimax went retired, together with Tisiptgemak, for whom the rank of “Chancellor Emeritus”, retired chancellor, was created.
This meant other people were to be promoted though, and fresh blood entered the majesty’s chambers. Pure Kwak became a warlord once again, as leaders still had faith in him. Also, Pallasknight was promoted from gatekeeper to chancellor, to reward his great work. Their task was to make RE survive the winter
RE survived. And how. Pulling a great 228 options versus the titans, and winning! Stronger than ever. Tisiptgemak came back as a high council, and lead, together with the rest of the staff, RE to her (yes, RE is a she *wink*) biggest and most impressive victory ever. Even though Djsmurf8 stopped being a court marshal, RE kept improving and improving, and took rank 16 on the raw (warring) list on runescape community.
More staffchanges came along in this light: Pure Kwak resigned, after a very short period, as a warlord, and leon1988 substituted Dj as court marshal.
Soon after, to some people’s surprise, Bolivius was appointed as p2p warlord, with the goal to make RE more active in the p2p scene; a scene most RE didn’t have any experience with.
Not much later Tisiptgemak was promoted to the highest rank possible, king. Also, the p2prelated aspects in RE began to on 3 march 2007, RE achieved her biggest victory ever, after 3 weeks of preparations, squashing The British Elites with losing only one man: Paulus55
A week later, RE got hit in the face. Den Boom In, founder of RE, together with Chops, resigned as a leader. Despite the one-year-RE celebrations, the 115 combat average achievement, and the requirements going up to 108, it was a hard slap.
New ranks were coming up. This was around the time the staff introduced the “elected council system”. From now on, every three months, members would elect three council members to assist the leadership & also be an intermediary between leaders and members. In this initial stage, the leaders still appointed the first councils, which were to be Mido11, Metalmaniac9 and Thomie Thebe.
Chopsbbq decided to be definitively retired as well now, so Marduk God was asked to become the second king, next to Tisiptgemak, to lead RE to a new era. At that point, no-one could have forseen the disaster that would take place a week later.
All on the same moment, Tisiptgemak, Black Sabat, and Spetter3 all left their posts, and it was even to become more disastrous. Tisiptgemak and DBI had a big argument, and Den Boom In eventually even left the clan. He even closed down the forums out of anger, which didn’t improve the situation at all, of course.
The staff left anticipated on all these bad things by appointing new rankers. Bolivius was now head warlord, to replace Spetter3, and Nazgulsauron and Zanderinos were the new court marshals. Also Tisiptgemak became king once again.
These rankchanges couldn’t stop RE from falling down. This was the beginning of a slump –the biggest slump RE has ever experienced. Tisiptgemak couldn’t, partly because of real life, handle being a king anymore, and quit RE once again, (to return later as a CE). Marduk went with him, and Pallasknight and Tb Acno were the new kings. Their hard task was to start all over again… RE had to rebuild. Lots of member left, and a lot retired.
Pk trips eventually went down to even 60 options, and morale was decreasing…
May 2007 brought new chances. And new ranks. Not just new highranks, like the new court marshals Br0ngers and Knight440, or the new High Council Metalmaniac9, or Rattenhoofds appointment as a warlord, but also a whole new ranking system for members. No more knights, paladins and cavaliers, no, old-fashioned names like elites, senior elites, and legendary elites were introduced..
The first period of three months had ended, so new councils were about to be elected in early July. Members opted for the new faces Fhb Djoene and King Keus, and Mido11 was re-elected thanks to his great work in his first period, or just his nice sister… Who knows. At the same time, Bck007 was given a new chance as highranker, namely warlord.
To improve RE’s average, Tb Acno designed a new competition: Tb’s competition. It’s goal was to get the average, which was just 116 at that moment, to 118, in which RE eventually succeeded.
Over the summer, options were slowly increasing again. RE won a war versus the Northern Gods, without any difficulties, and kept increasing and increasing. Eventually an awesome 153 options were pulled against Collision, and Tmrd, despite we lost, was threatened by hordes consisting of 53 hungry elite blacksmiths, herblorers, runecrafters, but mostly, warriors. This war also put RE back on the clanworlds agenda.
New ranks were coming up in September once again. Council elections brought Bertjuh1, Thomie Thebe (for his second period) and Kevinotsky as new council members, Mido11 was promoted to High Council, to assist the kings, and King Keus was the new warlord. Br0ngers went back to normal member, and Heikkyboy123 replaced him as court marshal. Even though Pallasknight demoted himself to Chancellor Emeritus, and Tb now had to dictate the citizens of RE what to do on his own now, this brought fresh blood into the staff, which was positive. A negative point in this month was Tisiptgemak leaving, because he disagreed with the staffchanges.
This Runescape Elites has so far been the best established version. And the end doesn’t seem to come anywhere soon. As long as RE keeps improving, profiting from her loyal, intelligent members and leadership, we will continue to grow, to hopefully once become one of the greatest forces ever seen in the clanworld.
