Belgen bestaan alleen buiten Belgie. In het land zelf zijn er enkel Vlamingen, Brusselaars en Walen.
Derk-Jan Eppink (De Standaard, 22-23.05.2004)

Many of the initiatives for "open access" actually call for free redistribution as well, but they don't highlight the issue of redistribution--they treat that as a detail. As a result, we're not educating the public about this aspect of the matter. I think we need to emphasize it more. We should talk about "free redistribution", not just about "access".
Richard Stallman (in a reaction on FAIFE-L, 20.05.2004)

The world is a better place when people speak in plain, positive terms. Keep it sharp, keep it to the point, and keep it real.

Het ideaal is ver te zoeken blijkbaar.

Bluffers will want to include in their mission statement words and phrases such as: 'maximise', 'access', 'passionate', '(networked OR lifelong)learning', 'cost-effective', 'quality', 'empower', 'customer-focused', 'foster and develop', 'support and promote', 'facilitate informed decision-making', 'anticipate information needs', 'enable X to achieve its business objectives' and, last but not least, 'e'. 'e' is for 'electronic', of course, and can be added to a number of the forgoing words (e.g. e-access and e-learning) as well as additional ones like e-citizen. Words and phrases to avoid include 'books' and 'library collections'.
Sheila Webber (Marketing Library and Information Services, about mission statements)

The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Waarom knielend bidden als ik zelf het gebed ben?

I find much of the thought in the open source community to be closely aligned to my personal understanding of libraries.
David Bigwood (Catalogablog, entry 'Open source' - 07.05.2004)

Getting a product out the door at a large company is like giving birth. Well, I don't really know what giving birth is like. But it's like threading a camel through the eye of a needle. Which I also haven't done. It's a death of a thousand self-inflicted cuts. Metaphors don't do it justice. All I know is that if God really shipped the world in seven days, then he was definitely working at a startup. Getting a product out the door at a large company is like giving birth.
