    Iedereen kent allicht een Vespa of Lambretta scooter nog wel maar namen als Bastert, Durkopp of Vjatka lijken heel ver weg. Na de tweede wereld oorlog kende de scooter een enorm succes als goedkoop en betrouwbaar transportmiddel. Deze populariteit kende in begin jaren zestig een hoogtepunt waar in de Innocenti fabriek in Italië alleen al, meer dan 600 Lambretta scooters per dag van de band rolden. Italië kan terecht als bakermat voor de scooter industrie beschouwd worden met als belangrijkste vertegenwoordigers Vespa en Lambretta.  Maar ook andere landen zoals Duitsland, Frankrijk en Engeland kennen een rijk scooter verleden met tal van scooter merken. Veel van deze merken die in de 'boom' periode mee op de wagon sprongen zijn nu reeds lang verdwenen. Sommige fabrikanten hadden slechts een productie van enkele tientallen handgemaakte scooters op hun palmares staan. Op deze site wordt een overzicht gegeven van alle merken klassieke scooters. Van een aantal kleinere fabrikanten is slechts heel weinig geweten en is extra informatie altijd welkom. Interresant om te weten is dat veel van de hier voorgestelde scooters in het bezit zijn van een gepassioneerde scooterverzamelaar die nog steeds op zoek is om zijn collectie te verruimen.

After the second world war the scooter had an enormous success as a cheap and reliable mean of transport This popularity knew his highlights in the early sixties where in the Innocenti factory in Italy alone, more than 600 Lambretta  scooters a day were assembled. Italy really had a leading role in the scooter industry with Vespa and Lambretta as main representatives. But also countries like Germany, France and the United Kingdom have a interesting scooter history with a wide choices of makes.  A lot of these make that make their debut in the booming period of fifties and sixties are now long gone. Some off them only had a production of a few handmade scooters. On this site you can find an overview of all makes off classic scooters. Sometimes there's little history known especially on the less common makes, so extra info is always welcome. Interesting to is that a lot of the scooters here presented are in possession of a passionate scooter collector that is still looking to expand his collection.
