| In 2000, here was a band called Scavenger
who released a demo. Little did they know that demo
would kick in some doors and land them a record deal
with the mighty Metal Blade Records. After they inked
the deal, they changed their name into The
Arcane Order and started working on material
for first full-length effort. As a result of that
collision, we got to hear “The Machinery
Of Oblivion”, the band’s debut
album. We liked the album from the start and were
very curious how the band would evolve. That we can
hear on their new record, entitled “In
the Wake of Collisions”.
On their sophomore release, it’s clear these
Danish modern thrashers have grown a lot. But it has
to be said, you can’t call their new album the
logical follow-up. This record sounds beyond what
the band once created: improved instrumental skills
and even more improved songwriting. The band has taken
music to a completely new and much higher level, and
has clearly found their own sound, inspired by Strapping
Young Lad’s complex compositions and Dimmu Borgir.
This record could easily be titled as a ‘hurricane
of a modern thrash metal’-album. Behind the
knobs was producer Jacob Hansen (Raunchy, Aborted,
Nearea, Volbeat, Hatesphere...), who did one hell
of a job creating this brutal and crystal clear album.
We were also impressed by the skills of the young
(only 23!!) drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen.
We especially enjoyed songs like “Eruptions
Of Red”, “Sanctity Of Allegiance”
and album closer “Horizons Buried”.
We’ve got a lot of great stuff from Denmark
the last couple of years (Volbeat, Hatesphere,…)
and now we can simply add The Arcane Order to that
list. To put it all together, this is a stand out
record. If they don’t breakthrough know, then
we don’t know….
