The Long Hot Summer (1985)

During one of his journeys through the South, Ben Quick (Don Johnson) visits a little town. Noel Verner (Judith Ivey) and her sister in law Eula (Cybill Shepherd) give him a lift and he meets Will Varner (Jason Robards).
Will offers Ben, Noel's hand and some land. Then Ben's father (James Gammon) visits the city. Ben doens't like it at all because his father always means trouble. After a short time a house burns down and the owners of the city will kill Ben. Only Noel and Eula can save him.
