An illiterate Arkansas woman, Melanie Daniel, loses custody of her son
to her ex-husband, Carl, and takes off for California, hoping to see the boy.
On the way, she drops in on a friend who is living with has-been rock star Rick Manning.
Eventually, Rick and Melanie fall in love; their romance is the catalyst. Rick needs to
become creative again.
