'I like what John Williams did with Indiana Jones.  I like that sort of music--big, orchestral stuff.'

Biography

Born in Chatam, Great Britain on the 7th of May, Anne Dudley is one of the few woman who dominate the music industry along with the big names of Hollywood. During the 80' she was a member of the pop group 'The Art of Noise'. Her first feature film score was Hiding Out. Next year she scored the movie Buster, with Phil Collins. Probably the big breakthrough came with The Crying Game of Neil Jordan. She mainly scored for British Television and low budget assignments from then one including some feature films. The recognition came with Dudley' nomination and win for The Full Monty, becoming the second Oscar winning female composer in the business. 1998 was jackpot again when Dudley scored the acclaimed and brutal vision of American History X. The 10th Kingdom, Pushing Tin and Monkeybone are Dudley' recent projects.

It is in the nature of film music that you might have a perfectly nice piece which is 50 seconds long--to my way of thinking, that doesn't work too well on an album.

It is quite high energy, electronic, fast paced, very rhythmic, because the atmostphere inside one of the air traffic control centers is frantic, really high pressure. High tension. This sort of music seems to really fit it.

I think the thing about being a film composer is that you have to be pretty eclectic-be able to turn your hand to all sorts of different styles and genres and be familiar with the latest rhythms and the range of an obscure instrument.

The greatest thing you can have when you compose a film score is a bit of time to think before you have to charge straight in and do it.
