Personal quote Bruce Broughton takes any genre as a step forward in his career. He has worked on numerous styles but he is most known for his western feeling, this is not surprising because Silverado is his best known work, and also the only critically acclaimed score that he has worked on. He writes for big orchestras and their is always a bold theme present in them, they make him a composer that deserves his credit with the crowd and thanks to his popular scores for lesser known films. He may not be the best composer out there, he works with a lot of enthusiasm and that is shown in his style and work. To me he has all the moves and tricks to become a legend as some have already quoted him to be. Biography Bruce Broughton was born in Los Angeles, on 8 March 1945 and began writing music for a serious amount of TV series, like Hawaii Five-O, Buck Rogers, Dirty Sally and especially Dallas. He also scored TV pictures as The Paradise Connection, Killjoy and Cowboy as many others. In 1984 did he score his first feature film, The Ice Pirates. That next year was Bruce Broughton nominated for an Oscar, his only nomination in his career so far. Silverado was the name. Bruce found other projects then, like Harry and the Hendersons, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Betsy's Wedding, the sequel Honey, I Blew up the Kid, Tombstone and the two Homeward Bounds. Bruce continued to work on a high level and scored project after project. Further he did score Lost In Space, the movie was a big flop but the score had it's charm. Bruce writes with big orchestras and uses bold themes, this makes his style attractive for any person looking for good filmmusic. Sadly, the last couple of years he had to score mostly Television projects (Roughing It), childish video releases ala Bambi II while Last Flight Out of 2004 is a rare occasion he scored a movie. Bruce is also known for his other adaptations were he re scores the old classics such as Jason and the Argonauts.
