Personal quote Personally, I find Cliff Eidelman one of the biggest talent walking around that isn't in big scoring yet. His use of orchestral scores remain popular among the most fans and his style is attractive for others. Like Cliff himself, I find Christopher Columbus his best work. It's bold on power, it's lush on themes and it remains a fine example of what a talented composer can do with an orchestra. Also Free Willy 3 remains a highlight even for its incredibly short length. Its sad then also that Cliff has got problems getting attached to motion pictures these days, let's hope he will find the path to recognition soon again. Because when those prices of recognition will come, things will change for him, his scores will become larger and for bigger projects and then the world will be confronted with a talent mostly have already discovered. Biography Cliff Eidelman was born in Los Angeles in the year 1967. After his graduation from College he was awarded his first assignment, Magdalene of director Monica Teuber, followed closely by the impressive Triumph of the Spirit. At that point he was just 22 years old. Eidelman continued to remain busy and scored for films as TV assignments. In 1991 began his success with the 6th installment of the Star Trek films, The Undiscovered Country opened doors for unknown Eidelman and made him a wanted composer for several years. After his big budget assignment things began to change and he received opportunities which were unthinkable before that, the astounding and adventurous sea myth Christopher Columbus remains a highlight in Eidelman's career. Score fans say it is his best work and his orchestral influence is perfect to amaze everyone. But despite his talent and potential he remained scoring low budget assignments or simply lesser known projects, The Meteor Man, My Girl 2, Now and Then being perfect examples of that. But that undeniable class remained effective to surprise every person listening, he simply did it with Free Willy 3: The Rescue, less popular then the first 2 but remains as the most beautiful and melodic of the three. In 1998 things he scored the drama One True Thing. An American Rhapsody and Ocean Men in 2001, The Lizzie McGuire Movie in 2003 and Sexual Life, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Open Window show the limited success Eidelman had for composing. It's only a hope that Cliff will remain scoring projects with the same finesse and style as now, time will eventually strike right for him and then we will hear our wonderboy in action for the big screen. Jerry Goldsmith knows it and others confirm it: "Cliff Eidelman is the best possible composer for the future, his style is rich of themes and remains orchestral, his ideas stay new and melodic and his attractive style will dazzle people to come". The future is set for someone who can make it in big Hollywood.
(on One True Thing) I read it and loved it because there wasn't much dialogue. I realized as I was reading through it there was so much description of action going on. I thought Oh my God, the music is so important in this. Just visuals with music. (on Triumph of the Spirit) And as it turns out, they couldn't get the license fee for The Planets and my wish came true...I composed an original piece.
