Not a great collection of score to be found here but
with two Queen classics and a couple of decent pop songs you are still in for an okay
listen. This CD was delivered along with D3: The Mighty Ducks and it's
just such a soundtrack album many people will hate (meaning a lot of songs and barely
score material). But if you saw the movie it is something to look forward at. The only
score track of composers J.A.C. Redford and David Newman consist of a nice theme wrapped
up in a overall fanfare performance. And for the rest it are the songs that rule. In the
end they are nice and some of them are even fun to hear but they make this D2: The
Mighty Ducks still an album you'll love or hate. First a word about the only score cue. The track is
actually the last shootout of the game with an extra version of the main theme attached to
it. It is really good stuff but will in fact only satisfy the people who saw the movie.
The other bunch of songs contain some Queen's classics, 'We Will Rock You' and 'We
Are the Champions'. For the rest The Troggs' 'Wild Thing' and some other
familiar pop songs. The score will likely disappoint you if you want more score material
because 5 minutes is the limit here. So not everyone will spend their money on it. However
it's a nice collection if you dig the movies and have the opportunity to purchase the 2
scores together. D3: The Mighty Ducks has a bit more. 4 tracks with two
amazing highlights and a different set of oldies. Both scores will not respond to everyone
but the movie will probably surprise you. So spend you're money on it if short fanfares of
film music can humor you and songs aren't much of a distraction at the end.
