Biography

Joe Hisaishi was born on December 6, 1950 in Nagano, Japan. He enlisted his training in the Kunitachi College of Music. Soon he would start to develop his music from minimalism to a more orchestral scope. In 1982, he released his first album Information. Mostly working on Japanese productions, Hisaishi still got the attention of the European and American nation with such interesting and extravagant productions as, Le Petit Poucet, Spirited Away, Princes Mononoke and Brother. His credits include a lot of other features and he wrote music for Quartet, which he also directed and screen wrote. Hisaishi is an accomplished composer and his more known scores include names such as When the Last Sword is Drawn, Dolls and Howl's Moving Castle. With A Chinese Small Story and Welcome to Dongmakgol he has his hands full in 2005. He received several Japanese Academy Awards of Best Music during '92 and '94.
